There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

OP, you must sign a message from an address staked in a post and not in your profile.
There is no such thing as an "unedited profile".

Verified ( message 1 and message 2).
Regardless of that, don't get your hopes up (I haven't seen [recently] anybody that has successfully recovered their accounts [unfortunately]). - Prepare to wait for a long time. OP, you must sign a message from an address staked in a post and not in your profile.
He/she can use that as well: If you want us to recover a hacked/lost account, you need to prove that you own it. Typically, the only acceptable method of proving ownership is by signing a message (including current date and desired new email address) using a Bitcoin address or PGP key associated with the account. A Bitcoin address or PGP key is associated with the account only if the account posted the key/address, sent it in a PM, or if it is still listed in the account's profile.

I asked theymos about the profile addy, here is what he said: We don't actually accept the profile field address unless there's some sort of proof that it's remained unchanged, for that very reason.
I'm working on a new address-staking system which will automatically handle signatures, etc. Might have it ready by the end of the month if nothing else comes up to consume my time.

There is a new procedure now for hacked/stolen accounts. Read this thread and follow the guidelines as explained in it. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5089777.0

Up! It's still actual! Help me!
You need to resubmit your application. There is a change since end of December last year. See here: We've streamlined our processes, and Cyrus has put together a team for handling these cases, so account recoveries should now be handled at a reasonable pace again. Additionally, we will be somewhat more lenient in recovering accounts without signatures, though signatures often will still be required, depending on the situation. If you have a locked account, send a new email to the @bitcointalk.org email address given in your "account locked" error message. (The email address changed a few weeks ago.) If you were previously sending messages to me or Cyrus, send a new email to the address here. We might try to go through the backlog of old-process recoveries in the future, but for now you should send new messages. Sorry for the delay! Check this sticky in meta as well > https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5089777.0Good luck Ops... Pmalek was quicker
