So, rumor has it that some anti-war ex-Obama supporters registered as Republican and rigged the game or is the grass roots support stronger than ever? Is it all of the above?

Last I checked, the uncompromising doctor had an unfailing <10% of the nation; the strongest fan base of any of the candidates. Despite the corporatist quelling of the media regarding the doctor, I feel the man may have a chance as president regardless.

The American Revolution took only 13.5% of the nation to engage. Could we see a similar grass-roots revolution take place with Dr. Paul?

clearly there are more democrats voting for Ron Paul then their are Republicans. Maybe RP can be the Democratic challenger to Obama?

Probably the former, but straw polls generally mean very little. I'd expect nothing other than Romney or Perry v. Obama at this point.

Straw polls mean very little when Ron Paul does well.  If he does poorly they are an example of why he's doomed to fail.

Ron Paul got ~40% in the Louisiana straw poll as well, a sweeping victory, and tied for first in Iowa. He has consistently been first in Rasmussen and Reuters phone polls as well. So if you ask the public, Ron Paul wins. Ask the media, and somehow he's not even in the results.

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey of Likely GOP Primary voters shows Perry with 28% support and Romney capturing 24%. Before Perry entered his first debate, the Texan held an eleven point advantage over Romney, 29% to 18%.

Trailing far behind the frontrunners are former House Speaker Newt Gingrich at nine percent (9%), Minnesota Congresswoman Michele Bachmann at eight percent (8%), Georgia businessman Herman Cain with seven percent (7%) support and Texas Congressman Ron Paul who earns six percent (6%). Rick Santorum, former U.S. senator from Pennsylvania, draws the vote from three percent (3%) while ex-Utah Governor Jon Huntsman draws support from two percent (2%). Michigan Congressman Thad McCotter comes in with just one percent (1%) of the vote.
