Hi everyone,

Hope you can help me and the internet with an issue.  Recently downloaded Bitcoin-qt 0.8.6 macosx and its taking FOREVER to download the block chain.  Yes I checked No Nap to allow it download entirely before Mavericks puts it asleep.  My question is, I already downloaded the bootstrap.dat from the torrents, how do I make Bitcoin-qt see bootstrap.dat?  There was no library\application support\bitcoin folder created with this release of Bitcoin-qt.  I did create that folder and copy pasted the 13GB blockchain file.

Any ideas of how to speed this process up?

TIA

The location of the data directory has not changed. It should be "/Users/<your-user-name>/Library/Application Support/Bitcoin". If you didn't find it, then you were probably looking in the wrong spot...

Just put the bootstrap.dat file there, and reopen Bitcoin-Qt.

You were right, Library was grayed out and I thought that I couldn't explore it, wrong, found it.  Thanks!

UPDATE: I put that bootstrap.dat file in that folder and Bitcoin-qt is not recognizing that file or is just ignoring it.  Is there anything else I needed to do with Bitcoin-qt in order for it to use the bootstrap.dat?

Thanks
