I haven't heard of MAXCoin. There's a thread with a list of CPU-only coins here:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=379601.0

Perhaps MAXCoin should be on that list? If you can't get MAXCoin using just your CPU, then you can probably pick another coin on that list to mine.

they say it could be done but it looks like all of a sudden max is switching it to a GPU mining coin if you read the maxcoinproject twitter

most people want it cpu only, its probably worth mining at the start if theirs no gpu involved. on twitter they had a pole asking people if they wanted a gpu miner at launch. 60% said no so hopefully we can mine it cpu untill the diff rises.

It's cool...we were all newbs at some point  Cheesy

I guess it depends on your machine, but most would say no.  I tried cudaminer today on my laptop with a 770m and got 151kh/s with autotune.  A far cry from my 7950, but still good to know just in case...

I'm pretty sure Maxcoin will be CPU only, at least at first

I have no idea what to doanload and how to start and I only have a laptop so what do I need to download from those things that they posted on Twitter and reddit? I am a total mining noob but wanted to try this time to get some free maxcoin..Wish there was a video on this for mining noobs would help us a lot. Huh
