Exactly I don't have compassion for these people. Gambling addiction is non-existance. I have seen people going thru hardcore drug addiction and these people want someone to feel bad for them, yeah ok. Gambling is not a real addiction, it is weak minded people that want to be victims but don't have a bad life so they create it for themselves.

How can I play poker and not have a gambling addiction, yet if I did heroin right now, I would get addicted? I can control when I gamble and when I stop. But drugs is a different beast altogether. I don't think you ever had a friend or family member that had a drug addiction. I have had a friend addicted to drugs, and it was not pretty. Gambling addicts want attention and most addiction places don't recognize it as an addiction.

People can get addicted to foods or all kinds of things that others wouldn't. And you don't smoke heroin or other drugs and immediately get addicted on the spot. People who keep going back to certain drugs and dangerous activities do so because they have a problem with those things. I've know people who have had gambling problems and drug issues from both soft and hard drugs; from weed to cigarettes to alcohol and more, but I also know people who can do all of those things recreationally with no problems at all.

I'm sure there are many people who have claimed to be hooked on booze or cigarettes after their first try, but that doesn't make it so across the board.

Gweedo, you're mis-informed.  You need to do the research, it's just as addicting as a drug.  You said you have experience with drug addicted friends.  You obviously don' t know anything about gambling addiction.  I have used alcohol and drugs and I'm not addicted to them AT ALL.  But I'm addicted to gambling.
