Alexis Bledel to Star in Bitcoin Thriller ‘Crypto’

Alexis Bledel, known for her performance in the hit television show Gilmore Girls, has signed on to star in a cryptocurrency money laundering thriller titled Crypto. The film will also start Beau Knapp (Seven Seconds), Kurt Russell (The Hateful Eight), Luke Hemsworth (Westworld), Jeremie Harris (Legion) and Vincent Kartheiser (Mad Men).

Directed by John Stalberg Jr., the movie is in its filming stages and set to come out in 2019, according to IMDB. The film is written by Carlyle Eubank and David Frigerio based on an original story by Jeffrey Ingber.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film enters on a young anti-money laundering agent, played by Beau Knapp to investigate a case. Before he knows, he is deep inside a dangerous underworld with a mysterious art dealer played by Alexis Bledel and a crypto enthusiast, played by Jeremie Harris.

The film is currently shooting in New York.

Looks like a decent cast. I wonder how this will affect people's views on bitcoin or cryptocurrencies in general though. Movies about money laundering and heists through bitcoin doesn't sound too positive. But then again, I really don't know if there's a way to make a sort of "positive" movie about bitcoin. And also, publicity is publicity I guess. I'll take it.

All publicity is good publicity.

The movie comes out in 2019. And the halvening is in 2020. So I'd say the movie will help lift bitcoin's price in the run up to the halvening.

unfortunately each time i  hear about bitcoin in  some sort of movie, tv series, ... it is used in a negative light. at least most of the times. the biggest one i think was Dope (2015) where that kid uses bitcoin to sell drugs! i think the TV series Family Guy took a shot at bitcoin too, where Peter buys bitcoin or something...

I actually want to see drama. There is no point into making things look positive just to nurse a few noobs. If people can't seperate bad from good then let them suck on it. It hopefully will allow people to grow a thicker skin and make them care less about what criminals do.

I would also love to see a movie covering the MtGox situation at some point. So much has happened, where each stage in Bitcoin's history is definitely worth having it converted into a movie.

I am searching for the catch, but there doesn't seem to be one. No ICO incentive...... That's pretty surprising.

Well yea, but I'd definitely take sort of "good news" publicity rather than the hackings, money laundering, etc kind of publicity. But then again, I think it's almost impossible to make an enjoyable movie about good things about bitcoin. A documentary would fit better on that category rather than a movie drama.

Not sure if a halvening will do a significant positive impact on the markets, but let's see.

Good or bad publicity is still a publicity so i guess this is enough reason to guess what would be the effect in cryptoworld of this movie,but im crossing my fingers that positive outcome might this give to our community

This may tackle about the truthful situation of the crypto people whos deeply engaging to profit and will do anything to gain money

As someone has sais any news about crypto is good news, it is free marketing to the masses. I myself cant wait to see the movie, as it has good actors too.
Hope they dont mess it up badly, in the terms of quality of the movie
