In all honesty none of these useless coins are needed. Look at LTC and BTC, two of the pioneer coins and they are just beginning to see retailers using them.

People are too busy shoving new coins down our throats, the coins lack any unique characteristics and are just lazy people cutting and pasting the same source code.

Unfortunately because a piece of shit is deemed to be 'rare' people will pay for it. If I released a coin called 'air coin' that contained nothing (but air), no features, and a stupid logo nobody would ever take seriously, people would demand it if the supply were limited.

Less focus on rarity and more scrutiny needed in the alt coin market.

Thanks for making this thread.  Smiley

It inspired me to write my first article for Altcoin Press: http://altcoinpress.com/2014/02/battlecoin-declares-war-on-the-altcoin-cloning-madness/

I don't think so. It's reliability is under dispute.
It just out of thin air and the price is just out of A LOT of pumping. Today is Bitcoin, tomorrow
maybe something else like Betacoin. I like Betacoin more because is faster without compromising the security and it
has been announced to the public from Day 1. This will make it more decentralized and more people will reach it.

Personally I think that the creation of new altcoins means the strong interest in Cryptocurrencies. Most of them will die soon, but if the community is putting so many hours and personal effort I'm pretty sure that good alternatives and improvements to BTC will arise and eventually we will find a new King, stronger, faster and more reliable.
