(and ASIC proof, of course)
I just start to search for dev team members, but:
"I have nothing to offer but blood, toil, tears and sweat."
so if somebody know someone that might be interested, please PM me.
www.gpucoin.orgwww.greatcoin.orgI for one welcome this project
Why is ASIC proof such a big thing? I don't get it. As far as I'm concerned the reason BTC is where it is, is because of the ASIC.
Well, The original Idea behind BTC was that every individual in the network would be helping the network with its computing power, and in return would get some rewards. The thing with ASIC is that the individual user does not get a chance. To be competitive in the ASIC environment you need an initial investment of several thousands of dollars, and to renew this investment every few months. This is not doable for individuals who don't do that as a living.
Then there are the CPU only coins. Those are BAD, because of botnets. (hell, within one week of launching one of my miners it was already registered in many AV software as a worm/virus because people were bundling it in malicious software). So CPU only also excludes the individual, home user.
This leaves us with GPU. GPUs are expensive, but not as much as ASIC, they are easier to install and use, and any gamer has a pretty good one. Most non gamers still have access to a middle range GPU on their laptops or desktops. Of course there are GPU rigs and farms, but those are not very cost effective and do not scale as well as ASIC (space and power consumption are high). So in my opinion, the best way to include the individual, the hobbyist, in a cryptocurrency network is to make it GPU only.
