Castle Craig Hospital in Piblhire, Scotland, has created a course of treatment for "cryptomaniacs", which helps to cope with the main problems and learn to live without bitcoin and trading crypto-currencies.
Experts say that the trade in digital currencies, such as bitcoyne, can become a behavioral addiction, like online gambling, for some users who are obsessively looking at price fluctuations every minute.
The West Linton institution is already engaged in programs for the treatment of drug addiction and alcoholism, and now will help get rid of crypto-dependence, using methods used in gambling addiction programs.
Specialists of Castle Craig note that there is no exact number of people who are addicted to crypto-currencies, but there are more than 13 million people worldwide who sell digital assets.
Chris Burn, a gambling therapist at Castle Craig Hospital, said:
"The high risk, the fluctuating crypto-currency market brings problems to the player.This provides excitement and escape from reality.Bitkoyn, for example, was traded more often and huge profits and losses were made.This is a classic situation with bubbles."
Some procedures in the center will be conducted by Tony Marini, a former drug addict and gambler
"Having gone through this myself, my experience of drug addiction gives me understanding and sympathy for others who have the same problem.I see that trading crypto currencies is a way for people to escape from themselves, into another world because they do not like the world, in which they are, "said the therapist Mr. Marini.
The first stage of treatment at Castle Craig Hospital is to join other "cryptomaniacs" in group therapy and share their life stories, which helps them identify each other and understand that they are not alone.
