Is it allowed to buy someone's account?

Hello. Please i saw someone selling a bitcointalk account in a certain telegram group which i wanted to buy, but i want to find out if its allowed on this forum because i don't want to get banned. Thanks

It's not against the rules, so you will not get banned. But it's extremely discouraged and both of your accounts will receive a negative trust if you get caught.

Its "Shouldn't" buy someone's account. If you did, keep it sercret. Even buying selling account is not in term of bitcointalk's rules, but when you got catched of buying or selling account, no one trust you. I know some people want to buy high rank member for joining signature bounty, its really worth of investment.
Just keep your buying account in your own secret if you don't want your buying account to mark red/warning. Try to active on forum by your own account, contribute high quality post, you will gain a lot of knowledge, respectful and high rank.

Of course you can buy an alternative account because it is not stated in the forum rules that buying / selling bitcointalk accounts are prohibited, you should also expect a negative feedback among DT members

Because it is not against the rules, so you will not be banned. But that's not yours so this I'm not very supportive. DIY is also quite easy but accumulates more experience

It's not fine. But it's obvious that if no one knows, you can pretend to be the original owner and avoid a negative trust.

Having (and building) your own account is much more satisfying. The problem is that you only want an account to join a signature campaign/bounty, or else, you wouldn't be worried about buying a rank.

You're saying that if some member didn't get caught,he didn't received negative feedback. That's not fair. Mods should implement a system to find out wether account was bought or not. I remembered famous quote of Pablo Picasso "Learn the rules like a pro, so you can break them like an artist". With the technological advancement peoples will learn how to buy alt accounts and not to get caught. The real problem as i believed is, if the intent of the person who bought that account is spamming for bounty campaigns or signature campaigns.

Well, if you have some troubles on making an account, it’s not against the rules to buy one. Just make sure it’s just your ONLY account, then you’re good to go.

In rules forum clearly not spelled out that this permitted to, but I think this will not give you benefit to. So if you decide to do it it is better not to write about it. as forum rules is not deterring you to buy. so i think you will not get banned because of this.
so you can go ahead.

but remember if you buy a high rank account then you should be more careful to use it. because with high rank comes high responsibility.

As buying or selling account is not in the forum's rule you can do this but thing is that you will get lots of benefit from high rank holder account and onething you will never get that is experience and knowledge and this are the main things in bitcointalk forum. So my suggestion is not to buy anyone's account, but you can create your own account and just start the learning journey into this space. If you keep focus and have so much hungry of knowledge surely you will make it your own. And that will permanent including your knowledge and experience.

That is the reason that mods did not ban the users.  I am not sure but I think I read Theymos somewhere saying that account sales can happen in outside platform without anyone knowing in this platform so they do not ban users.

Why it is discouraged.

1. Trust issue: Somebody purchased a trustworty  account and used it for scam. People will believe and fall in scam because earlier user was trustworthy.
2. Low ethics : Buying account is considered as non ethical

Hello friend, i would not encourage you to buy an account from another person. Its very likely you will get scammed. If the person fails to give you access to the account after paying for it, whom are you going blam? Stick to your account and make quality posts and you will soon get to that rank.

Do not buy them because they are all fraudsters. There have been a lot of people who reacted in the forum to being cheated. And you can upgrade through normal channels and help others get rewards.
