I got scammed out of my bitcoin. I have located the Bitcoin address where the ass hat is holding all of his/her/their coins. Its in excess of ~700btc. I would like to find a way to crack his the public key for the private key and then donate the coinage to ~700 random peeps in this community. I did not loose a lot but I'm way more talented that rich. And I have access to a server farm (in which I have permission to use unused resources - greater than 100 machines).

IF anyone has attempted this before, it would be greatly appreciated. There is a TON of into out there but I cannot decipher what is the correct method to use.

It's almost impossible to do. Only if you are very lucky - you will be able to return your bitcoins. Sorry, but it's true

A new account claiming to have had 700 btc, but probably doesn't know enough hence getting scammed (assuming what you're saying is actually true). Also, thinking you could do bad things with only 100+ miners. You're going to need a lot more than that. Yeah sure 700 btc.

Agreed , this story does seem a bit out there.  Someone that actually had that much money stored in bitcoin would surely be much more careful with their security.

You can keep trying man. Maybe you will get it one day. Irreversibility is the word in crypto transactions. And wallet hacking is only possible of the owner looseguard or give out his mail, private keys or phrase. Otherwise any hacking attempt is only a joke. Lets learn and move on.

Sorry to say but this is nearly impossible. If you can crack the private key of one public address, then you can crack other peoples address as well.
And that will mean bitcoin is not secure. Cryptocurrency is created with complicated algorithm, making it impossible to crack.

You can find the private key for your address on that site.  RawDog made a script that uses some secret hints - to speed up the process.  Ask him.

Very sorry for the great loss. To talk about you cracking somebody private key, i can say It may be "theoretically" possible, but in reality it's unlikely to be achieved. This is just like saying you can count the number of atoms in an office building, which is  unlikely. In any event, if you can do so to somebodys private key then you can also scam people. and this could mean that bitcoin is not save.

Unless the attacker used brainwallet with a weak passphrase, a weak online wallet that is willing to cooperate or a bugged wallet with a flawed RNG, this cannot be done...

Quite simple: if anybody with a botnet of a couple hundred/thousand PC's was able to brute force any private key that results in a certain public key whose hash (the address) has been funded with a couple BTC, bitcoin would have been worthless by now, since in this case the security concept would have been flawed. The address space is 2^160, the private keyspace 2^256. It's basically impossible to bruteforce these keyspaces... It might sound like this is possible because the human mind just isn't capable of imagining the mere concept of numbers this big, in reality it is impossible.

You have just said it the way it is despite being blunt about it, its the simple truth that there is no other out there. For Op, I understand his grouse and passion to wanting to get back at that person. Anyone who has been scammed before would understand the feeling especially if the amount involved is one huge that could make a significant impact in ones financial status. I could remember when I was scammed of some too sometimes in the past as small as it was, it was hard to lose and if I had my way, I would have hacked the wallet and all of those. I felt helpless and stupid at the same time. For Op, the earlier you started forgetting about it, the better it is to move on.

This is one of the ills of crypto currency that I always clamour for. If it were to be in the bank, you don't get to give up easily but here, one confirmation in a matter of minutes have sealed the fate that the fund is gone forever and the people involved in this unwholly attitude  should just desist for the sake of posterity.

Sorry to hear about your loss. This is a huge problem with the crypto world at the moment. People constanstly getting scammed and scammers can get away with it easily. I do not have any knowledge of what you are tying to achieve but I wish you luck.

I am absolutely sure you knew this before asking and then threw this at the community. If there be any machine anywhere remotely possible to carry out what you are thinking, then there would be no bitcoin anywhere. What you are proposing could only happen in a Sci-Fi movie, and that would mean shutting out the electricity requirement of half of Chicago for that job.

I think you need to look into the method of the scam and try to get a communication between you and him. There is no way you can hack it, so look at negotiating instead, perhaps using law enforcement as well.

A fully new account claiming to have had 500 btc, but possibility doesn't know enough space getting scammed. Also,I thinking you could do bad things with only 50 or more miners. You're going to need a lot more than that. That is sure 500 btc.

When something advertises risk-free money, it's an obvious scam, why the hell would somebody need money when they know the bulletproof way to make money?

This should be a lesson for everybody that still falls for those scams.

I do accept completely that the things offered for free almost ended up being a scam or at least milking something from you, either your identification details or something else.
One thing i would like to hear from the OP is that, since he knows where the coin is, he must post the wallet address so that everyone can monitor, as everyone said, no one has hacked it, so what ever your plan is, that is not going to work and since you have that much amount of coins your should have known better.

Give that dude the thing he deserve it's not a good work to scam someone. Doing things like that for me is just for weak so give hime the reward he deserves. Make him pay for what he do and at the same time your focus is to get your own back. Get back what is yours and teach that scammer a lesson he will never forget.
