Okay so am I the only one that will be telling and keeping time in blocks in the future?
Like when I tell people to come to work on the 150,000 block by gods will...they better be there! and I don't want to hear that "Oh well the network increased and blocks were created faster" excuse.....

As Einstein said, "Time is the only thing that keeps all the shit in the universe from happening all at once."
I think he said that..idk.
But time is relative and any measurement of time is relative to that which it is related. If your business depended on the timing of a certain block being produced, then it would be expected that your employees arrive on time.
On the otherhand, if you want me to be there at 2:30 am on a Saturday night for no other reason than 'just because it block 150,000', you better be paying double overtime and have a big bowl of candy when I get there.

id be more content if the bitcoin block rate changed to be even with an amount of cesium oscillations. id be happy if we based our time off cesium instead of the movement of the earth around the sun, even though we all know that we add and remove seconds all the time. some cesium clocks will only gain or loose a second about every 20-30 million years.

On the other hand, you can catch a few extras Z's when a block is a hard one...

Depends on the length of the tail...in cubits. I bet that's where your conversion is getting messed up.

Also, how about adding a seconds hand that counts a "Bitcoin day", 1 full turn equals 144 blocks (6 blocks per hour times 24 hours) ?
And perhaps you could also have another dial, or a "super hour hand", counting the whole thing, 1 full turn equals 21000000 Bitcoins generated?

The "Bitcoin day" does not work because it is not constant. Anything that depends on our time doesn't work here. The "super hour" might be a good idea (it also could be just an hour and the other two would be minutes/seconds).

I know it doesn't always match 24 hours, that is why i called it "a Bitcoin day" instead of just "a day"; you would be counting blocks, not hours, a Bitcoin day is 144 blocks regardless of how many hours it took to get there (at least using this definition).

well, i like your idea the best, so i've done that. but unfortunately it still doesn't auto-update.
