Updated phatk.cl file for GuiMiner %2 Increase + Stable + No Stales + It Rocks Try it Grin

No more Jumping from 401  414  409  407  like that .....  Shocked

%2 overall gains  for my 32 Graphic cards - 6870, 6950, 6970,  use-n the    -v -w128 -f0 + the phatk.cl with Guiminer  Roll Eyes

I thought I'd try this phatk.cl file, so I'll let you know how I get on.

However I am having speed issues with my 6970.  Just installed it today, trying it out.

I have it overclocked with Sapphire TriXX to

Core 1000.         (stock 880)
Mem  5488         (Mem slightly underclocked (I gather thats a good thing - stock 5500).
Voltage 1293.

(I gather that voltage is controlled by CCC anyway, so you can put it in any setting on TriXX.  This setting is near/at the end of the slider in TriXX but is also what someone else reported running at.)

TriXX reports the Driver Version as Catalyst 11.8.   These are the sorts of stats I've seen reported on this forum.  Not even sure why Catalyst would be a driver?

I'm using Win7 / 64

I was looking at the flags you're using:  -k phatk -v -w128 -f0

I notice you're using Radeon cards.  I thought those flags were used with the CUDA miner in GUIminer (NV cards)?

I tried using those flags on my GUIminer / Phoenix miner, got error.  Tried using them on GUIminer / OpenCL, got error.

The only other miner worth using in GUIminer is the CUDA (NV cards).   No use with my 6970.

I've also been playing around with GUIminer:  OpenCL vs Phoenix.   Different flags etc.   The flags I've settled on for now (using phoenix) are:
-k phatk VECTORS BFI_INT FASTLOOP=false AGGRESSION=11.

I've even tried the "real" Phoenix miner (not part of GUIminer).... Got less speed in the "standalone" Phoenix than within GUI.

The overclocking has made the most difference in hashing speed.  I'm now running at about 363-365 Mh.   However much lower than the 400+ reported by others.

Anyway, I've followed the ideas I've seen on this forum for speeding up a 6970.   I see I'm not the only one struggling with slower speeds on this card!
400 MHash seems like a long way to go based on my experience so far!

I possibly need to use another miner, or maybe the faster miners on 6970 are using Linux?

PS:  my GUIminer version is v2011-07-01.

OK!  I've got my 6970 up to 403-404MH speed finally!

I found a thread where it was explained that you need to go to Catalyst / Performance / Graphics Overdrive & inc  Power Control Settings (I'm looking in latest Catalyst 11.11).

I tried this in 11.8 Catalyst, but it didn't work.  I thought I'd try seeing if there was an update to the graphics driver etc.  Found 11.11, installed.  Suddenly the Power Control Setting just worked!   Thread I saw mentioned inc Power Control by +20.  Someone else mentioned that +5 did same job.   I played with +20 ->  +5.   All same results.  I left mine @ +10 for good measure.

I've changed my OC settings somewhat as well.   I noticed that although TriXX allows you to overclock beyond 950, Catalyst peaks @ 950.  So I've now left Core clock @ 950.
In Catalyst I've reduced Mem clock to lowest that Catalyst allows:   1375MHz.

I don't like the way Catalyst does not seem to have a custom fan setting.  You can set a "manual" speed, but not a hierarchical speed.  I close Cat, go to TriXX, and use its custom fan to inc fan speed.

OK lets see how stable this is!

I've left my GUI/Phoenix flags the same:   -k phatk VECTORS BFI_INT FASTLOOP=false AGGRESSION=11

At last my 6970 earning its keep!
