I think it is nothing but earning some free money from perspective of Akon.Few celebrities were involved with cryptocurrency and crypto promotion before but it didn't work for the company.I think it is more important to create quality project rather than this celebrity shit otherwise it won't be good for crypto community.

I believe he only promoted not built or become investor. Project use him because have high popularity, it will raise investment and create members in high quantity. I only see this having something to do with the cryptocurrency space in general and not just bitcoin but at least such a move is good for cryptocurrency publicity.

It is not a bad idea for him as long as the coin can have a product attached to it, or some sort of solution the project backing the coin would bring about and asides that, I do not see any reason why it would not just end up being another speculative shitcoin in the market. That is always the problem and the fact remains that without a real life product, it would just be as useless as any other shit garbage coin in the market. It is not just about creating a coin and thinking it would just have a future because being an artist can drive fans to it, how long will it end up sustained without taking a hit eventually.
The only thing that can keep it going in the long run is real demand for the solution it creates, and no matter how it gets to be driven speculatively, it would never last.
