Bad Apple.
Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

Switch to Android, now!!

In contrast, bitcoin is still welcome on Android. Both the Blockchain and Coinbase apps are available on Google Play. And Google is reportedly looking into ways of working with the digital currency. “We’re totally cool with Google,” says Cary.

Is a simple explanation or public statement too much to ask? Apple ought to at least address the issue.

It's simple. Apple gets a 30% cut of all in-app-purchases and they won't allow any alternative payment methods in their ecosystem that could circumvent Apples own payment system.

“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward.” – Apple, Inc. BTCitcoin
