The Bitcoin software, network, and concept is called "Bitcoin" with a capitalized "B". Bitcoin currency units are called "bitcoins" with a lowercase "b" -- this is often abbreviated BTC.

I'm buying ripple  for trading only not for long term. Ripple is giving at least 1.2 million xrp everyday. I only would hold ripple for longterm once it distributed all its ripple to users.  Cheesy

I was given some ripple on the forum to start me off. (You need a 25 XRP float). But I then bought some which I traded in for XNF. Purely speculative,

I get about 40 XRPs a day from the World Community Grid on BOINC running on my main PC. It is way less obtrusive than any kind of mining!
I trade these in from time to time to buy XNF!  Grin http://www.nofiatcoin.com/

XRP is going to be next huge thing after btc.

I agree that Ripple will be big!

However it doesn't really compete with BTC.
It's more of a very cheap Paypal substitute with very low transaction charges and no chargebacks.
Yes, the XRPs are a bit like bitcoin! However this is used as a mechanism for the payments system and any value placed on XRPs is fairly inconsequential to their core business.

I think Ripple will be huge in 2014 with new facilities like fiat ATMs and merchant payment gateway going mainstream. Because the Ripple network just guarantees the FIAT transaction I see this as the first crypto to go truly mainstream with the kids, Grandma's and Joe Bloggs.

On top of that you have wealth stores like XNF that are part backed by bullion.

Think of Ripples like your day to day current account and XNF as your savings account!

Yes, Ripple will explode this year. The retailers are fed up with extortionate transaction charges. Consumers are fed up with extortionate bank charges.!  Shocked
Let's face it - if you do a weekly shop in Walmart you don't need or want a chargeback facility - however their is nothing stopping either buyer or seller using escrow or insurance. I can see services like these on Ripple

However Ripple is complimentary to distributed currencies not competing in any way.
The real victims of the Ripple revolution will be highly centralised cryptos that have not been liberated by their communities. These will sink rapidly IMHO.
I am thinking, NXT, Protoshares.

I am guessing that almost all of the cryptos that are on at least two exchanges today will either grow steadily (If the economy grows) or launch into space (If their are any majoe economic shocks).
