I don't think those old golden days gonna come soon, banks and government have joined their forces to regulate bitcoin making it almost like fiat. You can't just exchange bitcoin or buy/sell it for fiat without getting noticed by government or tax officers. So point of privacy while dealing with bitcoin at some point might just become a psedotruth.

What you guys think about this?

Even though most/majority of bitcoin debit cards in the past already closed their service, I really don't think this service is going away soon. There's probably still huge demand for it, so there's probably companies trying to make this possible. Though I really doubt it would work on every single country. There's always going to be countries that are not going to allow such service (like probably EU countries).

I really miss using my Xapo debit card though.

I disagree.
People forgot (or are not interested) to use the DEX. Additionally, if you're looking to use a Visa card for your privacy you're wrong.
Banks don't regulate cryptos and governments don't scan millions of bank accounts to see if there is any transaction related to crypto.
Taxes report is based on trust, not on a bank history

Unfortunately no Sad

We never saw it coming. Commercialisation as we call it is always followed by tax-payers which helps build the economy. Exchanges, ICO's,Scams took it too far in less time.Government on the other hand was losing on a fruitful outcome from the technology of the future. They saw the opportunity just like everyone else and hopped on the bandwagon.

I really miss using my Xapo debit card though.

Whatever they cannot do anything to bitcoiners. They are really want to track the bitcoin traders and taxing on them with the 15 percentage of tax like service work charges on it. If you really fear about exchanging the bitcoin over local exchange swap your account to localbitcoins
Mostly there no one will ask your government or tax filing document to have the trade with them.
So you make the fund into fiat easily.

It's unlikely, but it depends wholly on what the regulations are in place for these. Also, it depends a lot on the card issuers, and what their attitude towards bitcoin debit cards are (such as Wavecrest).

Obviously, we've seen that a lot of and in fact probably most of the bitcoin debit cards have been wiped out.

I believe that we're in future going to see a lot more new ones. However, both old and new cards will have especially tough AML and KYC requirements. There won't be any anonymous ones in the future, most likely.

Having one would be really convenient. Actually, the wallet which I use right now allows me to transfer my btc directly to my debit card. It is also automatically converted from btc to our fiat local currency. It’s very convenient and there are no fees. Since there’s a third party (the wallet service provider) the bank won’t be suspicious nor would you have to deal with messy regulations.

Xapo and others are massively incentivised to find another provider, but unless they do it directly they'll be stuck with whoever's out there willing to do it. I doubt any other operation like Wavecrest will come along who'd issue to anyone, anywhere.

And even if a worldwide issuer pops up, you'll have to let go of the idea of using one anonymously above a piddling amount. That's just not happening.

I just hate using debit/credit cards and I don`t want a bitcoin debit card.
Using debit cards stimulates impulse buying behaviour. That`s why all the merchants and banks incentivize people to use them. The "pain of paying" is reduced and people buy stuff they don`t need.
The crypto world doesn`t need debit cards.

The crypto world doesn`t need debit cards.

There are many countries where these cards used to be available that have no exchanges and virtually no action on localbitcoins. If you actually needed to turn your BTC into cash for whatever reason there was nothing anywhere near as convenient. You got hit with some fees but they were tolerable.

And the options to spend it directly, not that you actually are as it's usually converted, are contracting rather than growing.

Well, nothing lasts forever, right? we will eventually have many bitcoin debit cards that works worldwide, just have patience and hope that in a few years we will have bitcoin debit card that works worldwide. The governments still do not look bitcoin with good eyes and because of this visa and mastercard follow the same path, but it will not always be so

I just hate using debit/credit cards and I don`t want a bitcoin debit card.

the cards are very practical, I would really be happy if we have more cards and that they work in my country.

I don't think that these bitcoin debit cards that were previously able to be anonymously (namely wirex etc.) are going to come back. There will be some identification measure or another, most likely, before you are able to use them.

I also don't believe that there is going to be one card that is going to be accepted across the world since regulations in different countries are going to differ, but they are likely all going to be tightening up with regards to these prepaid bitcoin debit cards.

Anything that involves bitcoin that also is integrated to fiat (whether fiat-bitcoin exchanges, bitcoin debit cards, etc.) are going to see some pretty strict regulations in the future or they already are seen right now. The closest thing that we can get to a worldwide bitcoin debit card is probably a buying service that buys anything you wants over the internet for you in exchange for your BTC, which is something we already see offered by services. But a debit card itself? Probably not.

In the EU at least you can still get an anonymous conventional prepaid card up to 250 euros in total capacity. That's so piddling that I can't see most providers attempting it but perhaps one might look into at and rape their customers accordingly. Then again they'd probably be throwing away the legit end of things so it would be barely worth it.

While searching more I found few ways people can still spend bitcoin through conventional card without getting flagged by government. Specially in the countries where you can get paid for your bitcoins directly to your preferred bank account without giving much personal detail than you can sign up with few prepaid card provider (there are many) and they will give you local bank virtual bank account without asking any of your personal document but that will have limit which is still enough to make daily grocery shopping.

Now you can use those services that allow bitcoin to bank transfer and use card you get from prepaid card provider to shop anywhere visa is accepted. You haven't shared any of your personal docs with any services above so you might still be able protect your privacy while having convenience of card in spending with bitcoin. Although this might not work in every country and there is limit so you can't make big purchases..

Most of them are just promises and until now there are only few who implements (still doubting if there's already accomplished this one since I don't have any updates to some ICOs ) it and just limited only for there investors.

Eventually this is what will happen and the earlier we realised that one way or the other, the anonymity would be broken and there is no way out of it. The only route I see is having a separate network away from the established one. There is no way a crypto card would want to pass through either Visa, Master Card or PayPal to fiat without going through the hassles of complying with what they decides. But if we have a separate one that does not rely on any of these major infrastructures, then the good old days can be gotten back. Another concern is which company would want to invest the huge amount of money without having to register with government and be known to it which then bring us back to the beginning that the good old days is not coming back.

Again? Such thing exist? From my local place we use our real money(as in papermoney) to exchange it in a designated store which provides us BTC don't know how they do it but would like to know the simplest explanation there is. It's a bother but searching won't do me any good since I'm bad at learning with vague words or unfamiliar words that is written on an article.

I considered HASHCARD as one project to be used with buying crypto but these projects turn out to be a scam. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3333922.0

But if there's a project that would turn this chance to really then I will support it.

Using up cryptopay Card back into the previous years and when VISA do already have problems then i do believe most of them do stopped this service which i do really miss out those times where conversions to btc to fiat and using the card on your own convenience.
For now regulation do tighten towards crypto and most of them do promise out to take that service but until now we are still on the waiting game.
