ICO's accepting ETH only are more transparent as we can see the smart contract code behind it. but ICO's accepting BTC and maybe more types of coins, gives more flexibility to investors to choose their favourite coins. What do you prefer?  |

Since most ICO projects are based on the Ethereum platform, investors should have the ETH crypto currency to buy and use tokens. ICO selects the ETH crypto currency, because by its peculiarities it easily generates tokens using a smart contract.

Not just ETH received for ICO. It all depends on the projects that do the ICO. But Usually I often see for ico altcoin received is bitcoin and ethereum. Two eyes of this coin is often accepted in ico because we certainly already know ethereum and bitcoin is one of the icon of cryptocurrency.

I think more options are better for the overall market but usually eth is accepted because project tokens are created on ethereum network using smart contracts and based on erc 20 model, so they accept eth as they automatically send the tokens who send or invest in their ico.

There is always a reason why to choose a specific coin to purchase tokens during ICOs. ICOs where tokens are developped in the top of Ethereum will always choose Ether to set the price however some others can choose btc or any other great token (Litecoin,Dash,...). Additionally to Ether less volatile than btc, buyers can make the purchase by only using one etherum address to send funds and receive token in the same address (this can easly set in the code contract unlike using btc which require more parameter functions). Back to volatility, some ICOs choose receiving funds from Fiat operators that it fixes prices during the ICO and even after. ETH is always the great option for ICOs that are running in the top of Ethereum but not the only one. ETH is widely known by ICOs use but it can be only for ICOs. More options of payements can be found in ICOs that are setting their own blockchain that won't need to write a code contract to buy and receive their tokens. I voted for using more coins for ICOs but it's still far from being fully set as a general rule as we see the majority of ICOs use Ethereum for the developement of their smart-contracts. This set can be changed with new projects that aim to overpass this limitation by developpement of smart-contracts in different ways out of Ethereum Mainnet (see more with EOS) |

But would accepting ETH plus other coins an advantage? or would you prefer just ETH, so you could see the smart contracts as well? |

I prefer an ICO which can accept both and I think most are doing it...accepting even other cryptocurrencies so to spread the opportunity to accept as many participants as possible. Having Eth as the mode of payment will not guarantee for anything as far as the project is concerned but can be a big convenience for anyone who got their funds in Eth. Though Eth is capturing the most market in the ICO platform there are now many other good alternatives which should be explored by any team behind any project. We should actually express gratitude for Ethereum in coming up with smart contracts which paved the way for the current ICO marketplace and I even feel that Bitcoin should be having its own smart contracts too.

What do you prefer? Not every ETH accepting ICOs have smart contract. There are few ICOs that provide a smart contract that mostly in the case of not reaching the softcap, returns the funds to its investors. And some other smart contract controls the withdraw of fund by the project in periodical way. That to say, smart contract do increase the creditability of the project but doesn't insure it. Multiple coin ICOs are easier for most but is totally depended on the ethics of the team. |

ETH basically easily generates tokens using smart contracts. although ETH is the most dominant market in the ICO platform, but the selection of coins depends on the project undertaken by ICO. back again, there is always a reason why choosing a particular coin to buy tokens during ICO. because both ETH and BTC have their respective advantages and disadvantages. slim depending on how your policy to decide will choose ETH or BTC.

ETH is not only for icos, you can try to use it to play on the existing dapps platform, remember there are hundreds companies are joining in EEA right now and the latest news about there are some countries will try to build their system through ethereum platform. there is a lot of icos accepted various payment. i think that you need to read more about that. it seems like you are missing a lot of news about that. |

It depends on the user on which coin will he/she uses to invest to. As for me, it is more convenient to use ethereum when I make a purchase in the ico since using ethereum is much more easier thank using bitcoin. And in terms of transaction speed, ethereum is way more faster for the funds to confirm. But there are other instances that you use neo to make a purchase, especially when an ICO only hosted an neo blockchain ico. So you use neo to invest to the ico.

It does not make any sense what coins the project accepts for the subsequent realization of its idea. |

Purely from convenience, it is better when you can invest with different coins and even Fiat funds. Just a conversion.

This is the correct opinion. I think Ethereum is the best choice for ICO. And this also makes its value independent of BTC. |
