It is a common myth that Bitcoin is ruled by a majority of miners. This is not true. Bitcoin miners "vote" on the ordering of transactions, but that's all they do. They can't vote to change the network rules.

Statement Regarding BTC Withdrawal Delays
Tokyo - JAPAN - February 07, 2014
Dear MtGox Customers,
In our efforts to resolve the issue being encountered by various bitcoin withdrawals, it was determined that the increase in the flow of withdrawal requests has hindered our efforts on a technical level. To understand the issue thoroughly, the system needs to be in a static state.
In order for our team to resolve the withdrawal issue it is necessary for a temporarily pause on all withdrawal requests to obtain a clear technical view of the current processes.
We apologize for the sudden short notice. All bitcoin withdrawal requests will be on pause, and the withdrawals in the system will be returned to your MtGox wallet and can be reinitiated once the issue is resolved. The trading platform will perform as usual for the needs of our customers.

Our team will resolve this problem as soon as possible and will provide an update on Monday, February 10, 2014 (JST).

We deeply apologize for the inconvenience caused, and thank you for your kind support and considerations.

Sincerely,
The MtGox Team

Im aware that Apple products started an issue but everyone says that we shouldn't see an issue from it.   So can anyone help explain the reason my bitcoin ticker alarm keeps going off due to decently extreme drops...thanks

I can't see why Apple removing the blockchain app would have this much of a negative effect on the price.

Headlines bro...headlines
Any perceived negativity towards a thing from father Apple is viewed as being bad for the thing.

I only have a signature because I'm allowed.

The fact that Apple removed blockchain.info from app store is minuscule in comparison to Gox freezing withdrawals altogether.   Despite the fact that most of the regulars in bitcoin know that Gox has been having problems lately, from the outside they were still perceived as one of the biggest if not the biggest exchange in the world.

I would expect prices to drop for awhile until things get settled then prices will start to jump back up again so hopefully Mt Gox will start functioning again.

I will be surprised if Gox is ever fully functional again. I think we are just gonna have to adjust to pricing without Gox, just how we had to recover after all the China news...

So is Gox completely done?  Or is that speculation?  It appears that they are finally on the same page of pricing as the rest...but has there been anymore updates on when peopel can withdraw?  That's when I feel I need to be ready to buy in...what do you guys think?
