Bitcoins cannot be used in Russia - Prosecutor General’s Office

The use of bitcoins and other cryptocurrencies carries the risk of violating citizens’ property rights and cannot be used in Russia, the country’s Prosecutor General's Office concluded after meeting with the Central Bank, FSB, and Interior Ministry.

“The monitoring of the use of virtual currencies shows an increasing interest in them, including for the purpose of money laundering, profit obtained through illegal means,” ITAR-TASS quoted the Prosecutor General’s Office as saying.

“Russia’s official currency is the ruble. The introduction of other types of currencies and the issue of money surrogates are banned,” the statement says, meaning that cryptocurrencies - the most popular of which is bitcoin - cannot be used by Russian citizens or corporations.

Members of the meeting also outlined recommendations on how to prevent the use of virtual currencies.

There's no 'ban'. That's just RT and their sensationalist headlines. Nothing changed, Russia just clarified it's not legal tender, same as Canada, and frankly any other country will do the same. You'll see a lot more of these 'Country X BANS Bitcoin' media reports, when in fact, it's not.

Bitcoin is not a currency. It does not have the characteristics of a legal tender. It is a digital asset and u can get legal things in exchange of it even in Russia. Russia is scared of Bitcoin's use in illegal purposes and all their ban are over there. That 's expected. But mining/holding/exchanging Bitcoin within Russia is NOT a problem.

The old Soviet Union fell around 1990. Now they are back with a vengeance.

Almost none of the people of the nations of the world are truly against the United States people. And the U.S. people are not against the peoples of the world. It's only the governments that attempt to create animosity among the people.

As the new Russia forms what could be called, again, a "Soviet Union," the peoples of all the countries need help fighting the enslavement that all the governments are causing to happen to all the peoples of the world, just like the people of Russia need help to remain free.

We The People in America need help to be free. Often we think that we are free. Often we look like we are free. But the fact that our government and the banks want to bridle things like encrypted emails and Bitcoin - just like the Russian government is trying to do in Russia - means that all of us are being enslaved.

We all need to work together to figure out methods that will stop the enslavement of people everywhere.

Bitcoin is the beginning of a form of innovative thinking that can lead us all into new innovative paths. Let's not stop with Bitcoin. Up with Bitcoin and innovation that bypasses everyone who would make us slaves.

Actually the Soviets never fell. Perestroika (regrouping) means synthesis of the Soviets with the West to form World Totalitarian Socialist Government.
By using bitcoin or other open standart cryptography you are helping to form that Orwellian government with cashless society which is exactly what the bitcoin was created for.

The real liberty comes with these steps:

1. Fully decentralized alternative Internet.
2. Private non-standard cryptography with secret algorithms.
3. Arms (right protected by the American 2nd Amendment). No matter what network you have or what algorithms you employ they always can force you by their vast military-industrial complex. So the people must be armed at least equal to the size of the government forces to preserve any freedom.
