UPDATE 14/08/2014: OlympicCoin is getting a new name + trade symbolOur team have been working hard since February transforming OlympicCoin. Our goal has always been to create a currency that can be used by anyone, anywhere, with no governance, fees or restrictions. Most importantly, we wanted to focus on one key feature that every other cryptocurrency seems to neglect,
ease-of-use.
When we launched back in February our best features were still in development. At the time, we didn't realise exactly how much work we had ahead of us! We wanted to build a cryptocurrency that could easily be understood and used by average internet users from all countries - hence why we initially choose the OlympicCoin name - as the Olympics is an event that stands for the uniting of nations.
Our team of 8 kept coming up with new ideas to make cryptocurrency more useable, every new idea caused further delays. In March we all sat down and decided it would be best to release all the new features at once and rebrand OlympicCoin under a better, more useable name at the same time. Something short, catchy and easy to pronounce when asking for payments.
In short, our currency name 'OlympicCoin' and trade symbol 'OLY' will be changed when we relaunch with the new features. The feature list will be released at the same time as the new name. Your current olympiccoins will not be affected by this change, simply send them to the updated wallet when released. That's all we can say for now!
