Hello Bitcoin Talk Members

Here is a press release from Try A Million - The London Bitcoin Bank Project on the recent news that Apple has stopped the last Blockchain App in their App Store.

Members of the bitcoin community in contact with press, are free to release this press release.

================================================================================
The Say No! Campaign Starts To Urge Apple To Stop Killing Human Creativity

Companies like Apple have always been known as creative companies with their innovations over the years. Recently the company stopped the last blockchain app from their App Store for iPhones. The news triggered a huge uproar in the Bitcoin community with some people going as far as destroying their iPhones on camera and on youtube.

In light of this news Try A Million with it's project The London Bitcoin bank which is almost out of research and development phases is urging not only the bitcoin community, but the public at large to support saying no to killing human creativity by releasing a graphic in their displeasure at the news in a blog post on LBTC projects blog:
http://thelondonbitcoinbank.com/blog/2014/02/07/is-apple-going-against-its-creativity/

A Corner Stone (part of keeping the project running) Kozan Huseyin said:
“Please support this campaign that Apple and others don’t kill human creativity. If there are bad elements in this industry they should be dealt with. Humanity has tried to separate humans by skin colour rather than individual merit – in the past. We ask that all people view bitcoins and these technologies the same way – that the technology is neither good nor bad, but it’s our application of the medium that matters.”

The post also touches upon Apples role in creativity itself:
"How can a company geared toward creativity try to stop the creativity in the world."

The aim of the Say No! campaign is to remind us all, companies, individuals and governments that like when electricity was experimented with to bring it to this stage where it benefits humanity, there was a lot of creative effort and blocking human creativity can be devastating in the long term.

The view shows in it's simplicity where would humanity be without electricity being developed to the stage it's at today and what if Apple itself wasn't allowed to develop that creativity it started with.

Will Apple really listen to a petition though? Hasn't there been petitions to get them to stop using metals mined by kids and unfair labour practises before? I think they'll only listen to money or people en-mass ditching their devices.

Good point HilariousandCo. Whether a petition can help or not doesn't mean we shouldn't try.

The key concerns I have with this.

1. Why did Apple really pull out the blockchain app?

2. Has Apple done things against the constitution in the US with this decision?

Something to note to everyone... Even though Apple has stopped the blockchain app, it doesn't stop anyone going to the site in their browser on an iPhone and still use, it's just you can't have that convenient app.

I'm not saying don't kick up a fuss or protest, but to hit Apple where it hurt people need to dump their devices en-mass and stop buying their products.

True, but I would say most people would prefer the convenience of a native app. They are supposedly working on an HTML5 version that will help ease the pain a little.

Signed the petition at change.org. Not sure that Apple will take it seriously, though.

Apple don't care and they don't have to, because the walled garden (feature-crippled) iPhone still fulfills the needs of the majority.

Exactly. Most users are fine with the walled-garden approach. Those that aren't either jailbreak or go for Android.
