I don't have any problem with patents in cryptocurrencies. Not all projects can be open source. As long the creator is the owner of the patent and not someone who decided to deposit a patent for the work of someone else...

Usually patents are a pain in the ass, and people don't like it. The patent owners misuse their power to just sue the other party and drain their resources. Patents and crypto don't go hand in hand, at least for me. And patent lawsuits are boring as fuck. But looking at the article, it is just a tweet. No lawsuits have been filed, yet. Its the usual that is happening here, people want to go after each other in search of name, fame and money. That is always the case here.

Regardless of the row, isn’t that a piece of open source code? How would you protect something which is already disseminated? Moreover, the idea must be novel and a breakthrough. It cannot be just a different line of code (if any). Neither a similar idea! Hence it could be easily rejected. No panic.

craig has tried getting them to back down by saying he is satoshi and that the finantial tool (trust) he opened by which he scammd the aussie government, by suggesting he is satoshi to get tax grants..

he then paid a family member of a friend of his(the friend set up the EMPTY TRUST and later died), so craig got the friends family member to false claim the trust ownership was in debate. as yet another attempt to TRY to legitimise the trust and TRY to legitimise claims over the satoshi identity

now he is trying to patent blockchain techniques/features to attempt to say that he is legitimately able to patent it because "h is satoshi" purely so that he can later go back to australian court and say. "look i patented this because i am satoshi"

he cannot prove he is satoshi because he is not satoshi. so h is trying all this media manipulation and patent crap in an attempt to use media/patents as his "evidence" (facepalm)

though this is usually social drama. what craig wright is doing. and what also greg maxwell and adam back are doing by patenting concepts of blockchain tech is something that is ruining the whole purpose of bitcoin/blockchain.

and yes adam back, greg maxwell and others are just as bad as craig wright

Reading the article, they are both right and I see some level of selfishness in both parties trying to justify their respective actions. Crypto should be open source as patenting it means centralising it to one person as the inventor. He has the right as no further development can be done on the project without his express approval doing that would amount to amount to something related to plagiarism in academics. When this happen, it then defeats the essence of decentralization that holds the fabric of crypto together. Now they are going to court to address their issue the same system they don't trust to offer justice that gave birth to decentralization in the first place.
