US authorities have revealed that their agents had been operating undercover on the Darknet for the past year. The massive operation uncovered the true identity of over fifty vendors on sites such as Silk Road, Alpha Bay, Hansa, Dream, and more. Over 35 people have already been arrested and goods worth over $23.6 million have been sized.

These include liquid synthetic opioids, tramadol, fentanyl, Xanax, Oxycodone, MDMA, cocaine, LSD, marijuana, and psychedelic mushrooms. The authorities also sized more than 100 firearms, including handguns, assault rifles, and a grenade launcher; five vehicles; more than $3.6 million in gold bars and fiat; nearly 2,000 bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, with an approximate value of more than $20 million; pill presses, Bitcoin mining devices, computer equipment, and vacuum sealers.

i'm not surprised. the whole darknet market scene scares the crap out of me now. i wouldn't go anywhere near it after the police takeover of hansa last year. the NSA and friends have been tirelessly working to compromise TOR (and several busts show they can probably do it), and i'm sure there are more darknet honeypots lying in wait.

Sooner or later darknet will be the target so it looks like they are really operating on it for the last couple of years and made a lot of arrest. But to be honest, I don't think that the authorities can totally shutdown those criminals because they are always ahead of the game. So its going be a continuous cat-and-mouse game. As for those who still haven't been caught, LOL, enjoy your day, because the more you think that you are completely anonymous, the sooner you will get your ass busted.

Seized = stolen by the government, the most high profile thief out there.

Will it influence the price of BTC? It shouldn't because the money will most likely be put on auction like the SR coins were. Government actions aimed against drug dealers don't undermine the fundamentals of cryptocurrencies the same way prosecution of car thieves will not impact car sales.
One thing is certain, there's so much money to be made on the dark web that there will always be people willing to trade there and learn on the mistakes of others.
