[ANN][VTC] VERTCOIN NEW LOGO - Vote now!

I've talked with @Vertcoin about some things like marketing, to get VTC known to the world.
We've first decided to create a brand new eye-catching logo.

This is what I've designed so far based on the current logo, and it's our (the Vertens, this is the name of our fanbase am I correct?) job to pick up the best logo.
Because, since Vertcoin is going to become a huge cryptocurrency, we need a beautiful logo for all those news/media, right?

I agree with this. I'm not saying 100% that rebranding the logo is a bad idea, but I like it as it is quite a lot - something really nice would have to come along for me to express a preference for it above the current one. However, I do quite like the "tick" style one someone did on a "VTC accepted here" image.

This could be a good idea, but you are doing it prematurely.  Get the community to come up with ideas, there are brilliant graphical people out there who could make numerous great designs.  Maybe post a reward for whoever wins the vote.  But give the guys a few weeks to make their designs first and collect donations for the reward.  

It might not be a bad thing giving the coin a "fresh" new look, we could still have the option to vote on the old design if we dont like the new ones, but i dont think it would hurt to see what other people come up with before we entirely dismiss the idea.

These are the only logos that would connect with everyday people, I think. "money for people" is also very good. It's more clear than any other, and simple.

How about we poll average people instead of miners and developers? Wouldn't that make more sense if we want (everyday) people to use it?

If we are going to choose a new logo and have a bounty, we should set a deadline on the submissions, then start a new thread with all the options. That way there is time for artists to put together logos.

uses (same as Bitcoin) the Ubuntu font due to obvious reasons.

For the green color, that generic green of the actual logo is too cheap and doesn't reflect a distinct and serious image.

Good scalability (UIs, tiny logos on exchanges, favicons etc..)
Works perfectly in any dimensions, greyscale and b&w.

Shadows, fine lines, outlines are not suited for a logo mainly used on screens/low res.

Vert needs a slick ID, not only a logo.
- defined colorpalette for web & print
- logo (that works from 16x16px up to unlimited)
- dedicated font (that is free, professional and represents the spirit of cryptocurrencys)

Too slow. That would take a month.

1) Someone start a contest today on 99designs
2) In the meantime the person who started the contest puts up their deposit address and we donate to them
3) Designs are submitted on the website and we pick the winner by polling members of the general public (like using mTurk, for example. or even printing out a few of the best ones and asking people on the street)

#3 is important, I feel. We are not selling Vertcoin to the people on this website. We are selling the concept to the general public (as part of the long-term goal) and thus need their input from the beginning.

With branding, "clean and simple" always wins over unique.

People are attracted to things they are comfortable with. The more 'unique' something is the less attracted they will be.

The logos in the OP are a joke and ppl that submit stuff should have a minimum of visual communication background.
Don't forget that the logo ect has to be scalable and the graphic designer has to be able to adapt the logo to any support and any dimensions at a latter stage.
Voting for logos made by ppl that have no clue about graphic design and communication isn't recommended.
Voting for logos in general but having no clue about graphic design and communication is smth to avoid too.

99designs is never an option. Mostly very bad designers submitting bad designs getting voted by ppl that have ZERO clue about what is good design/branding.

If you want a professional result, contact a good designstudio, explain your project and give em a few weeks to show you some propositions.
Expect to pay a fair salary, noone will make you a professional branding for 500$

If you want to keep it within the community, then put up a fair contest with a bounty and at least a 2 weeks deadline,

As already said, a logo alone is not enough to create a strong ID.
Open a contest for a refreshed Vertcoin ID (including colorpalette(green tone), logo, font)
Request .eps/.ai/.pdf vector files for all submitted designs and a small txt that defends the project.

I understand there is a lot of turmoil with the changing of the logo. Although I'm thrilled to see it doing so well in the polls. When it comes to a free market like this, everyone is free to use whichever identification they like the most.

I've been in the industry a while, and thought the original brand could be spruced up. I'd also like to clear some things up. The Vertcoin developer has asked the community to start a poll on which logo should be used, so here we are.

I exclusively work in vector, so atleast logo 5 can be scaled to whatever dimension you like. It also comes with multiple sizes and styles to fit different areas and backgrounds uniquely.

I saw the check mark logo and instantly had a positive feeling for it and new it was perfect. Whoever designed the check mark logo post your wallet address as a tip is coming your way. The number 6 logos are far and away the most professional and mainstream looking graphics. Yes, 5 is a nice logo, but something you'd see in a video game rather than a shop window.

6 makes VTC look like it is ready to be taken seriously as a currency, which is why it gets my vote.

As a little food for thought I have thrown together a couple of quick concepts which build on these evolutions.

Sometimes the 'V 'can look like a downward arrow, these mock-ups use a flowing ribbon to make the 'V' in an attempt to avoid this.

The top right of the 'V' may also be extended a little higher so it looks like it is on an upward path.

Offer a bounty, why should a "real" graphics designer, who you will only deem as "real" when YOUR sensibilities are pleased, why should a REAL graphic designer work for you for free?

Put up a bounty, offer some value for your sensibilities. If you think you have what it takes to make a proper selection for a logo for this coin, then provide some VALUE for that. Show us that you think your ability to choose a proper design ... has value, by offering a bounty.

Great job working on the logo. Just keep in mind in the sensitive world of Crypto Currencies, any change indicates instability and should be as mild and smooth as possible. VTC is at a breaking point where lots of panic selling is happening. Implied solidity is better than logo design.

Pyramid is a nice idea, however, as it is a Vertcoin with a V, my minds wants to flip your coin upside down so that it creates the V from the pyramid  . Nice work though, but I miss the green. Metal shiny coins are everywhere, Vertcoin should not be the same as all others.
