Thanks for doing this, I'm interested in the results.

How are you correcting for rejects due to differing ping times at your location?

interested!

Just switched over to Waffle myself, because of the transparancy, but I would like to see the actual results!

Do give us, altcoinplex, a tryout at https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=428955

Hi everybody,

Im running a GPU farm with 50Mh here in the Netherlands and use exclusively MiddleCoin as my pool. In general I'm satisfied with their payments and stability. But over the last days/weeks everything became more and more unstable and new pools are hitting ground. Thats why I want to do a good comparison between all the big pools.

My plan is to point one miner 2.4Mh to each pool for 48 hours. Let them pay out to a new BTC address and after the 48 wait for another 48 hours to let all the coin mature. All miners will have a fail-over to another MiddleCoin pool address, just in case. I will measure the results in BTC/MH. So pools I'm looking at right now are:

  • MiddleCoin
  • CleverMining
  • HashCows
  • WafflePool
  • Hashbros

Do you guys have other suggestions for pools that you want to test, or variables I need to keep in mind?
Let me know.

altcoinplex.com seems profitable, tested for some days

Here are some preliminary results, just to give an indication after 12 hours of mining:

WafflePool 0,0086
CleverMining0,0085
Hashbros 0,0073
CoinSolver 0,0046
Hashcows 0,0027
MiddleCoin Amsterdam 0,0023
MiddleCoin EU unknown

No payouts yet, these are balances including unexchanged, immature and estimated earnings.
For some reason my account for MC EU is not shown on the page (yet).

Does the balancing feature work properly? I have tried it a few times with only 2 pools, and every time like 80% of my hashrate was going to pool 1, and 20% to the other pool, sometimes flipping around. In the end the hashrate was absolutely not balanced.

Maybe it would be better to really start a separate instance of cgminer for each pool?

The only real way to test it properly is to point 10 Mh/s at each of the 5 pools over 7 days to find which mines the best coins. Reason being is that different coins pop up all the time with different earnings for each...

Good point; you would be testing not just the algorithms each pool uses but how they are maintained (for example which of the pool operators are the fastest in adding hot new coins, etc.).

I've been pointing 1.3 MHs at megamultipool for the last 12 hours, it fluctuates wildly since it's smaller and deals with diff of occasionally up to 512 (unsure of the other multipools' diff). I think it will take a while for it to average out - days, at least. As I calculate it, I've seen as low as 0.0002 and as high as 0.0011. Currently 0.0003 in the last 6 hours.
