How can you buy bitcoin in the UK for a fair price and securely? I can pay with UK bank transfer, visa, or paypal, but I don't know where to get them.

https://www.zipzapinc.com/Apparently there are 28,000 locations in the UK where you can use this service to make a purchase of Bitcoins online and pay cash at the location. But I haven't heard any reports of people trying it yet.

The service is just starting I think, here are the current payment centres apparently: All in Scotland by the looks of it, gonna start seeing "Buckfast for Bitcoin" signs haha, nice.

Cheapest UK seller on localbitcoins is 468.76 GBP, that's $769.24.
I preferably want to buy online.

You might be able to use this exchange https://justcoin.com/en/I have used it before, but only with norwegian currency.

I'm not sure that's a problem. Basically you have to transfer money to a norwegian bank account. Once that is registered you can withdraw that amount in BTC, or back to fiat if you prefer. I can't advice anyone to use it of course, I can just say that it worked great when I used it.

Your options are very limited if you want anywhere near a market rate and don't want to wait for Bitstamp.
Bittylicious and Localbitcoins have (very) occasionally matched Bitstamp's price. Right now they seem to have an unacceptable premium again. Speedybitcoin.co.uk is a fair bit less right now.

Aren't sellers here able to use localbitcoins as a secure escrow type service and sell for a reasonable price?

you mean like buying from another member on here using localbitcoinsas a safe medium? dunno, im only a humble newbie.
tbh i wouldnt trade with many on here regardless, theyre all over paranoid and love branding any and all newbies as scammers even when they are not. its kind of like trying to deal with those brainwashed born agains.. it doesnt matter what you say or what proof you show them theyre oblivious and blind to the facts. also there has been instances of users with good trust ratings jumping the fence or just earning the trust in order to pull a big scam so basically dont trust anyone here and if you are dealing with someone here make sure its through a safe medium such as a reputable escrow and make sure your totally happy with the arrangement beforehand, leave no outs for them to potentially scam you.
hell theres even speculation surrounding a large amount of BTC donations to the site owner towards a new forum that has never happend so id be weary of anyone and everyone.

Yes buying here and using localbitcoins as a safe medium, my money would go into their system, they administer the transfer so nobody can be scammed.
I live in the UK and don't want to pay high fees for things like WU.
