Hey,
I am building my first rig and have a few issues.
1. To start I optimistically just plugged everything in to see what would happen. I bought second hand stuff off eBay. I have 6 Rx580 GPUs and I noticed that the fans on two of the GPUs don't start on boot. All the lights come on though. I have tried swapping the risers and power around etc but it is always the same two. Does this mean that they are most likely broken? Or could it just be some settings that the previous owner set?
2. I am getting no output to the monitor. I have tried several different monitors that I know to work. I have also tried reseating the ram and checking the cpu and fan. I then just stripped everything right back to bare essentials and got the same result. At this point I decided to remove the cmos battery.
3. Up until this point I was getting power but once I put the battery back in the PC doesn't power up at all. I have confirmed that the PSU is ok via the paperclip test. The power was switched off but the cable was still plugged in when I removed the battery. Could this cause damage? Any hope of fixing it?
Any thoughts, help or advice would be really appreciated.
Do not try to plug all the GPUs at the start before even installing the OS and the appropriate drivers. First, install the Windows OS, configure the bios (Lane speeds to x1, disable unnecessary modules like Serial port and such, do not enable 4G Decoding yet).
After Windows boot up, just connect one GPU and install the drivers. After that connect the rest of the GPUs and the drivers will be automatically installed for the same. Then enable 4G Decoding and see if all the GPUs are getting detected.
