If someone could make a range of graphics with this Ƀ instead, I'd send a healthy tip.

Edit: I know there are already some graphics with that symbol somewhere, but I think the color scheme on them is bad. Waiting to see what's going to be put up here: http://bitcoinsymbol.org

That's nice! But wouldn't you consider to keep consistent with the orange design? I think it helps bitcoin being a recognisable "brand"..
Good job anyway Smiley

I think it helps bitcoin being a recognisable "brand"

I think that is detrimental, and implies that it's a company, or centralized. I think long term it would be great if there were every kind of design imaginable, using all kinds of B symbols and color schemes.

Yeah, I'd prefer a variety, but I think having a brand or logo is also beneficial. I don't like the green, but the classic orange colour can sometimes look a bit dated too.

You should keep it with the original colors. Imagine seeing Facebook in red, yellow, green somewhere.

See? This is exactly what I'm talking about.

Facebook is a centralized company. It wouldn't make sense to have a range of different colour schemes and logos.

Bitcoin is not Facebook.

Even though bitcoin is not centralized or a company, it has to be recognizable in a way, hence the (usually) orange logo.

Ok, so that brand thing about orange color seems logic and I sticked to it. But it can be changed to fit site's color scheme.

Anyone else see the images? Works fine for me in 2 different browsers on 2 different IPs... They're all on imgur.

p.s. This logo is also rather iconic and uses the Ƀ:

But who are we to decide and 're-brand' it using a new logo?

But who are we to decide and 're-brand' it using a new logo?

A decentralized community of independent thinkers?

A bitcoin logo can look like anything you want it to look like.

I just personally prefer the Ƀ character over the more often-used one.

A few members does not equal to a whole community. How do we know we have picked the right number and right people to vote on this?
Why not honor Satoshi and keep it in its current state?

Why do we need to vote? Do people vote on the price of bread before the supermarket puts it's price tag on it? No, the free market decides at the point of sale.

Anyone designing a website or anything else related to bitcoin is free to make it look however they choose.

I am honoring Satoshi by having faith in free markets.

Marketer here. Branding is extremely important and has nothing to do with centralization vs decentralization. The end goal is effective communication and you're not going to have that if your message is all over the place. Design is not just visual masturbation, but a way to communicate to people.

From a dev analogy, this is why you have things like the "Android Design Guidelines" and UI / UX best practices. Yes, it's an open ecosystem, but there are best practice guidelines for a reason. If some lazy dev uses Sencha or Phonegap to create some shitty cross-platform app, consumers are going to have a rough time figuring out what the hell is going on. Similarly, if you have green Bitcoin signage with unfamiliar logos, you're introducing a level of confusion to the very people you are trying to target. Language itself is decentralized, but you don't see me going out there and spelyng thingz difrint just beacuz aye can.
