BTC is still loosing ground on the Mt. Gox exchange platform. New losses are possible. Let's keep it within the 570-590 range (February 11th). By the way, if you're up to BTC intraday trading check this out http://coinforecasts.com/. Very smooth and accurate trading strategies provided.

I believe that the down trend could last up to a week before testing lows at 400. I'm looking to buy at 380-480.

I do not believe that there will be a rush of incoming capital, nor an abundance of buy orders at any given price as investors stand to the sidelines in this critical time not to catch a falling knife.

I have said before that I would not be surprised if 266 was tested by EW analysis. It would not look at all surprising on the log chart.

I have noticed the frustration of customers depositing BTC on BTCe that is arriving late. I was affected by this but not as late. They want to sell obviously, and they will likely make a market order as the coin arrive out of frustration.

I think the recovery at lows could take 1 - 4 months, before we resume an uptrend towards 2000, ad maybe more.

I expect BTC to be weakening this week. Cannot be specific on a particular date but the price will hit 600 (BTC-e, Bitstamp) again and continue falling down. A potential sell signal on the 1d chart was given over 2 weeks ago (January 27) so a strong 'ask' order prevails over here.

Even a sharp upward trend on Feb. 14th did not reverse a L/T bearish move. Expect BTC-e to be 550 at the beginning of next week. Any posts or comments are welcome

I like Coinbase, which right now is trading at 625.44
I have a small buy order at 550.
But I'm hoping that it goes as low as 399 (which right now seems like wishful thinking)

I have a 10 coin buy at $120. I REALLY hope we have one nightmarish day and things tank that low. Then we may look back five years from now and thinks "that was the last chance to get cheap coins." Basically the way I view the stock market in 2009.

I think that's unrealistically optimistic, even if gox survives this. I think Matt and others who expect $380ish soon are much closer. I'm buying in at $400, come what may. If it doesn't get there oh well, I was wrong.

I am betting mtgox will turn on btc withdrawing and you will see the biggest spike in mtgox history in a matter of a few hours. This will spill over to other exchanges. Bring them up past 700. Short term traders will take profits hammering it back down to 600 area. That is where we will settle in again. Higher then 600 and lower then 700.

The market is following mtgox's craziness down.. and will follow it right on up. The trouble is that mtgox is so goofy that could be this week or next month. Who knows how this will play out the longer it takes them.  I just think people will regret selling btc for less then 675-700 over the short term. Short term being when mtgox fixes their crap.

i have no idea how long you have been on the bitcoin scene but it has been a few years now for me. mtgox is like a roach that never dies. it has come back from so many things it is funny. this will be the next blip in the road for them. they will allow btc withdraw sooner then you think. my two cents.

When was the last time Gox btc price was less than half of the other exchanges? Do you really believe they have the fiat and/or btc to make things right? I'm just a dumb newbie, please explain where my mistakes lie..

It is half due to fear. No facts involved. Just fear.
They have made so much money from trading fees they would have to be the biggest imbeciles in btc history to lose enough not to cover customer funds.

Lets turn it around. What makes you think they dont have the fiat or btc?  is there any fact floating around i have not read that says they are broke?

They had a prob with withdraws. Maybe even lost some btc to some hack related to it. I doubt enough to break them tho. Withdraws will be turned on again. I doubt they will just close their doors and wait for the lawsuits... Highly unlikely.

There are people who bought btc in December for a grand that still haven't gotten their btc and can't get their money back. If what you say is true what would explain that other than outright fraud or being broke? of course it's possible it was so badly mismanaged they could be broke, it's happened on this scale lots of times.

Hey out there! Any comments or posts on the BTC market forecast? I am still betting it will fall down and reach 550-560 shortly. Even the crossover on the 4H chart did not reverse the trend. Potential resistance at 648 (BTC-e) was not breached.

The thing is that I am doing technical analysis on the BTC market and see that trend is still on negative territory (since January 27th) and may be taking further steps down (as EW shows).

I'm also pessimistic on the short term.
Once gox will stop with their services, all media will cover this story (a lot of them still think mgox is the only btc exchange).
This will create panic and a significant price drop.

It may also trigger an opposite effect (my subjective viewpoint). Mt.Gox is loosing grounds and lots of bitcoiners aware of their end. The may artificially be keeping the exchange afloat to pull all their funds out. Once they're down - a huge cashflow will be distributed to the other exchangers. It's quite a long process I think (a few months) and again that's my personal viewpoint. What I am seeing right now is the market challenging supports to breach them afterwards.

I'm pro HODL but 100K for 1BTC would mean that I can live a comfortable life and do what I want without having to work.
Walking away with millions might seem weak but who cares Smiley

Waiting for 2040 means you will be 26 years older and assuming your atleast 18 you would be in or after your midlife crisis (44 years at least). Yeah buy a porsche and do a comb-over ....

100K is the point at which I would cash out some to live the life I dreamt of. I will HODL some for the 1000K+ Cheesy

Hello there!
After a sharp rally on Saturday 22th we came back to regular $590-$550 range. The bearish sentiment is still prevailing and new lows can be viewed in a L/T basis (1-1.5 months). However, we may witness a potential breakout in 3 days (based on TJ's Ellipse of EW analysis) and reach 626.00 on February 27th.

A huge drop to 430.00 today (testing lows) and an ongoing rally back up to 520.00 may form a new trend on the current BTC market (either upwards or downwards). By the way, Mt.Gox's standing still these hours.

March 3rd - full-fledged trading day of a new month. Although bearish signs are quite strong these days and new lows at 400s (and lower) are still possible, we may see a bounce-off tomorrow at 483 (Fibonacci Retracement) and subsequent takeoff to 600+ (within 1-3 days).

March: Rally to 700
April: 800
May: 850

July 1st-10th, 7000-9000$ peak
August - 3,000-5,000

Your figures look quite realistic. What's your primary technique/strategy? Elliot Waves?

$2500 by years end.  Much volatility through April.  Summer spike.

I expect BTC to be within 640-740 range until the end of the month. I don't think we'll see a real momentum until the summer. Any thoughts?

BTC is slightly bearish today (SMA50 at 623, daily chart). I hope it's just a temporary slowdown.

Are there any indicators to why or is it just people dumping?
I couldn't find any negative news.

I think people get very twitchy by the MtGox stash moving again. All it takes is one dump for a lot of people to start panic selling. Then it stops just as quickly as it started.

I just wish the hackers out there would just stop hacking exchanges. Its no good to anyone if these exchanges keep on getting hacked. BTC won't reach above 1000$ mark if there is news on continuous loss of coins due to hacking. Its bad. Also the US government needs to ease up. With this MSB service crap. No other country has such a strict guideline like the US. Its equal to getting a liquor license here to even be considered as MSB which is totally BS. IF the US continues down a path of unnecessary regulation of the small guy. Its going to drop anchor on its own foot.

Exchanges (just as banks) should have impeccable security.
A lot of new exchanges have been hacked because their lack of security, I also wonder if they have been properly pentested by security experts.
btc-e, kraken.com and bitstamp.net haven't had any security incidents thus far, as far as I know.

If BTC-e keeps taking a dive and breach 600 we may again be testifying a bearish sentiment of the market (support at 564)

I agree. I believe its just bad news for this whole month. I feel the Gox issue is still fresh in everyone's mind. It really hasn't died out as it should.

The problem is keep money at exchanges. Let not forget these are not banks and NOT FDIC insured. Its like wild wild west. Everyone needs to transfer in and out with there wallets.

I never understood why would someone ever leave more than 5 BTC or even 3 BTC at an exchange. Its a lot of money to be throwing nether less some are leaving hundreds.

I just feel the best course of action for any of these exchanges is getting insurance.

You are very right about the exchange platforms security. After Mt.Gox's shutdown lots of bitcoiners were seeking a way to pull their funds out and that triggered a sell off panic which I think is still going on. Insurance and/or legal certificate are the best courses of action for the exchange platforms. More responsibility from their side and thus less panic on the market. Perfect match! I guess this as you said 'wild-wild west' would put BTC down in the short-term until a common agreement will be found.

It seems BTC will be challenging the 610-620s area until the end of this week. We still expect a rally to $700+  by the end of March.

We're discussing the BTC future values here. If you're up to that discussion you're warmly welcome to join us! By the way, I view a crossover on the 12h chart that may be forming a new downward trend (support at 564).

I'll say it's going to stay pretty steady and then start to slowly climb back up to the mid 600s within the next several days. That's what my software is predicting anyway (www.btcpredictions.com) seems like a reasonable prediction to me

I am a bit pessimistic on the analysis which is based on BTC transaction volumes. Technically speaking we cannot predict values from the volume indicators but those software predictions look very good. Never seen this website before.

Thanks dude! Also btw it actually doesn't consider volume in making these predictions. It doesn't even look at prices either - it looks at recent percent changes in price and predicts future percent changes.

Yes, you're right pal. Sorry I just misread the About page on that website. That's the rise and fall price pattern. Very precise technique.

Even a sharp upward trend on Feb. 14th did not reverse a L/T bearish move. Expect BTC-e to be 550 at the beginning of next week. Any posts or comments are welcome

How do you make these predictions?
Are you using some mathematical techniques?

Yes, I am doing technical analysis on the BTC market to know the potential bearish and/or bullish moves

And, if you don't believe me, simply ask the OP of this thread, for he's sitting right next me, albeit it's only a mirror.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to make dinner.

Desert will consist of Apple Pie once I review Mark Karpeles' YouTube video on how to make one.
