Please see swap instructions below:

• Download the new BOLD wallet from the BOLD Git repository at https://github.com/theboldtoken/bold/releases.
• Send the tokens you wish to swap to the following swap address: 0x4df827C40Ca34dDA266E88DaAc3A52f62384395E
• Ensure to save the transaction id for this transaction
• From the newly downloaded Bold wallet, note the address - this will be where your swapped coins will be sent to.
• In the form on the swap site at https://www.boldtoken.io/swap.php, enter your Bold Token address, the transaction ID you received when you sent your tokens to the swap address, the amount of tokens you sent and your new Bold Coin address. All fields are mandatory
• Once your transfer of tokens to the swap address is validated, the equivalent amount in the new BOLD coins will be sent to the coin address you provided. Upon successful validation, you should receive your swapped coins within 24 hours from when you fill and submit the form below

Note:
Swaps will be made using a 1:1 ratio.
Token swaps to validated users will be made within 24 hrs after swap data submission - so please wait until this period expires before sending queries about not receiving swapped coins in the #token-swap channel on the BOLD Discord server.
You can check the status of your swap at https://www.boldtoken.io/swapstatus.php.

What happens after the initial exchange period is over and most of those who wish to exchange have received their new coins? Where do these funds go? Who is controlling those coins?

No one controls the tokens. The address you send the tokens to during the swap is a "burn address" so the coin are not controlled by anyone and can never be spent ever

Please refer to page 1 of this thread:

All current holders of the out-going BOLD tokens are able to exchange their tokens for the Bold coin at a 1:1 ratio. Token-Coin swap will be open from July 3 to August 3 2018, and instructions for swap can be found on the official BOLD website here.

* All BOLD Tokens will be "burned" at the end of the swap period
* UNSWAPPED BOLD COINS (coins set aside for the purpose of the swap, but which were not actually swapped), at the end of the swap period, will NOT be "burned" - instead, they will used to set up a Community Fund.

After August 3rd 2018, ALL uncirculating tokens will be "burned". The BOLD tokens will be withdrawn from exchanges. Holders of the token will not be able to trade them after August 3rd 2018 - existing tokens will be worthless.
