Bitcoin mining is now a specialized and very risky industry, just like gold mining. Amateur miners are unlikely to make much money, and may even lose money. Bitcoin is much more than just mining, though!

I am new as well and to be honest, you really need to read a ton of threads here and as many articles as you can find.

Most people say you cannot make money mining without putting big money into a mining system, but everyone here seems to want to mine.

I'm lazy to dig and read and would be really greatful for a useful link or two.

Particularly interested in CPU mining with the use of several PCs which are not exactly very powerful.

Thanks for any hint.

google -> bitcoin mining calculator

Choose any minig hardware at store - see its hash rate

put hashrate into mining calculator.

Profits visible in a minute, just take advantage to small thing that difficult of mining is rising.

Or losses, more like - with my present hardware. Thanks for making things clearer to me.

Mining seems a lot more difficult now. And takes some investment, too.

Invest like 6k-10k $  and you can get some BTC

Probably not, if you are mining btc.
It would be better to build a GPU rig to mine scrypt-based altcoins.

You can find a list of CPU-only coins here.
FYR: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=379601.0

You can find details of those coins and the way to mine them with those links.

It will. Like in 2-3 months. Just check prices  / hashrate / calculate (google -> mining calculator)
