If you'd become a merit source in the local board of the Philippines i hope that you should give merits to the post who only uses specific language (filipino)  not being a racist here but it would be nice and smooth and understandable to filipino's who read clear explanation with their own language.

Thank you for bringing this up. I'm fully aware of the requirements that theymos has included and all I did was merit those replies that are really good and made me feel more motivated. I don't regret to merit because for me it was an appreciation, that's why it was only one (1). There are a lot of posts that have received one merit and it just means it increased the value of the thread. I'm not going to merit every reply because some are just repeating what everyone said. I know the responsibility of becoming a merit source. It's a good practice to appreciate someone that has given a value more of the application. That is just my thoughts about it.

I don't see anything wrong with how he gave out merits to the replies on this thread. Other than complimenting OP, they have given some insights on the matter of merit sources within the local board and being a merit source. It may not be high quality but I believe that OP has the capability of being a merit source since he is able to point out which posts are constructive as cited in the OP.

I think you should not have double standards for different threads when discussions are going on about the same issue. You throw me the exact opposite questions and criticising my post in my thread regarding crwth's Merit distribution trend and I already answered there.

In the other hand I should respect crwth has cleared some doubts by replying to my thread(though some clouds are still there).

We don't need to use english all the time at local boards. Local boards are for those who lack skills in constructing english and that's the purpose of local boards. Instead of using english why not use both languages as we would still be learning english even though the discussion won't be fully discussed in english language alone.

Hi I’m crwth. I’m applying to become a merit source. The merit distribution in the local board Philippines are not that big and I want to help by focusing most of the merit to be distributed on our local board, Philippines, to help my countrymen and improve the quality of posts with merit.

I think there are post in our local board that hasn't got any merit even though it is useful/high quality. Good luck for applying to become a merit source kabayan.

I don't think it's fair for the distribution of merits that the posts in local section is in English. It's possible that there posts in local that are not in english yet worthy to be merited.

Nasa kamay na ni theymos yan lahat kahit mag disagree pa ung mga DT members. As long as makita nya naman na kailangan talaga ng merit source sa mga local thread (not only in the ph), iga-grant nya yang request. Un nga lang, sana may iba pang mga representative sa ibang mga local section para mas fair.

Kung tutuusin mo, marami ang merit distribution sa ibang local threads. Di ko lang sure kung mayroong representative kada local board o sadyang maraming lang ang nagmemerit sa ibang local pero patas naman na magkaroon ng merit source sa local board (Philippines) kasi napag-iiwan na siya.

I hope this application would satisfy the lack of distribution towards the Philippine board. We will never know unless it's there already.

I'm also a Filipino, but no offense, I agree with Coolcryptovator this time because I see his point. For me there's nothing wrong for giving merits to someone who agreed on your opinion or someone who complemented you but since you are now applying to become a merit source then be ready for the changes (if ever you will be accepted). As a future merit source, much better if you will now practice better judgement and being more careful in weighing of post quality. Sir don't get me wrong, actually I understand that you only want to show appreciation for those good respondents but if you insist to continue this then mods or other members of this forum (especailly outside our local board) might have a bad impression to you, might say that you are inefficient or even emotionally-biased merit source; That will be a stain in your good reputation and I'm sure you don't want it to happen, right? Just a reminder, a good merit source always based on the construction and essence of others' post not mainly depends on whether it agrees on his own perspective or not.

Regarding giveaway, can you pointed me where he announced he will send merit for support him ?  I can't find his post. But I saw on his thread he was given some merit for reply and that was not big. I think it's not much problem. Even it's look not fine.  But I think it will not prevent him to become merit source if his other condition is fine.

Actually Coolcryptovator defended crwth's merit distribution rather pointing out what he has been done with or without his intentions. Check above reply from Coolcryptovator in my thread.

I think "crwth" imotionally attached that perticular thread due to his great eager to become a Merit source. That type of judgements when taking decisions should be wiped off from his behaviors, If he becomes a Merit source. Because sometimes imotions and eagerness clouded our judgements.

There's nothing wrong with that, it just an appreciation. Maybe he merits us because we "support" him but the real thing is, he feel happiness when someone appreciates you for applying in a BIG responsibility, maybe it's his first time. People today are just over reacting into things while some of you are just spammin' around simple construction of sentences that can't understand by others but still receiving merits. You know what i mean, it really exist in here. And why creating another thread about him, why don't you just reply it in here.

It's a lil' bit unfair for crwth, i don't know him personally but judging him through that case is having a sht mentality. People always trying to voice out but has no guts to improve and develop our own local section. I know that he will do his job when he becomes a local merit source. time!

I don't know exactly if there is a spelling change of Filipino. I googled it and this is what i've found.

The word “Filipino” is spelled with an “f” because it's derived from the Spanish name for the Philippine Islands: las Islas Filipinas.

I want to know if the application of Mr. crwth is accepted since we really need a merit source on our local. My fellow members in local keep posting some good and informative contents that will really boost up some newbies to be an efficient member of the community. This is a serious problem, because of the lack of merits, they revising some contents from the past that is being locked.

Merits also symbolize as being the original or the most amazing content. The more the merits, the best content that is created for that kind of topic. This kind of symbolization avoids all the revising or creating version 2 of some existing topics.

So I'll help Mr. crwth to bump this application, I don't care to those reasons that crwth is not capable of what he's applying because of that issue about him. I know myself as a fellow member of the local that he is an effective merit source of our local. We, the people of local experienced the situation of being unable to move on that situation.

May I ask if there is a hint whether our candidate is accepted or not? I am just wondering how this approval of merit sources works. Well by the way Philippine Local Board is transforming into a good section of our forum and it seems a large number of Filipino members are now opening their eyes about the current issues faced by the forum. They are now creating lots of quality post although few of em are just repeated topics but it's very minimal.
