Looks like they extended it to 10/4.
Not sure why 5970 doesn't get more love. It kills any other card in terms of power efficiency and w/ right cooling can be solidly overclocked. 90% of the performance of a 6990 for almost half the cost and throw in more MH per kWh as a bonus.

Wish these kinds of deals were around when I bought my 5 5830's.
Much lower power usage.
Awesome gaming power.
Much higher resale.

I believe you have that backwards. The 6990 has 90% of the performance of 5970, as far as hashing goes anyway.

I think 6990 hashes slightly better than 5970 but where it comes to value for money it is certainly 5970.

That pretty impressive. Almost 3MH/watt and 3GH per system. What clock settings? Also what power supply? Your power supply must be more efficient than mine to get that kind of efficiency.

I think the fact that these are still in stock, even after the sale, is very telling on the state of the union re: bitcoin mining.

Be greedy when others are fearful, be fearful when others are greedy. I think anticipation for 7xxx series has killed the gamer market for these cards. It would take a LOT of additional bitcoin demand to soak up that destroyed gamer demand. The problem is demand for high end gpu is down in the bitcoin community too. So you have low demand and desire by AMD to clear out stock. Remember these aren't 6000 series they are 5000 series. AMD will want to clear out the 6000 series cards before launching 7000 series. That is a lot of cards to move. I bought 4 of them (the most I could using different names & addresses of people I trust). Looking @ ebay it looks like used market is still solid. Even with launch of 7xxx series the 5970 will outperform everything except the 7990 or 7970 (likely $800 and $400 respectively). My wager is that if needed I can unload them easily for at least $200. That greatly reduces the capital risk compared to say buying a FPGA miner. If they run another special w/ different code I will buy another 4.

I will want a 7XXX for my own gaming computer but will take 5970 anytime for bitcoin mining. The cost is getting better and better for miners. Hopefully it will drop further when 7XXX, would loved to get a few used.

Looks like the deal is done.
They didn't renew the deal and now the product shows out of stock & discontinued so they aren't selling more even @ $499.

Come on newegg you can better than that. I will buy 4 @ $399 ea. After getting them for $399, $499 seems like such a crappy deal.
