Today I woke up to see an email from Blockchain.info
"A Payment has been received into your bitcoin wallet."
A mysterious address, 1Enjoy1C4bYBr3tN4sMKxvvJDqG8NkdR4Z, had randomly decided to send me some BTC.
How many BTC did I receive from this anonymous benefactor?



A whopping 1 Satoshi!

Any idea who it was? Where did you post your address? Start a 1 satoshi donation campaign I wonder how many people would send just for fun.

This happened to a lot of people recently, it can be used to track which addresses are associated with another. For example, if you send money from your wallet and it includes that satoshi in a transaction, the person that sent the satoshi knows that you also own the other sending address. A way to stop this is to send your coins through a mixer.

It's like an ad. Someone send you one satoshi, you look up the address, and you usually find it leads to a gambling site.

It's not bad when you get something, anything. Sure it would be a great way to advertise if there is a note in the transaction.
