Will the merit system be removed by BTT in future?

As we all know since the merit system It has been very controversial fact on this forum. According to my experience, it is not easy to get merits on BTT. I have got 9 merits so far but I am dying to get one more merit to be a member. meanwhile, there are plenty of people who have not got even single merit.

I think BTT followed Reddit karma system introducing the merit system But I am afraid whether it works in a similar way to Reddit. Obviously, getting karma on Reddit is not this much harder. Therefore, even though the intention is good everybody doubts now, whether the merit system works as everybody thought at the beginning.

I admit it is important to maintain the quality of this forum But I am not sure Merit system is the answer for it. Will BTT introduce any other system in future instead of the merit system?

Nobody has a crystal ball that can look into the future so nobody can answer that, but what is more likely to happen if the merit system fails is signatures are to be removed completely and that will then solve all our troubles with the ranking system here because people only care about ranks for signature campaigns and bounties. So that is something you should be more concerned about because I'm guessing if that happens you will leave and never return anyway, so instead of hoping and dreaming that one day the merit system might be removed and everything goes back to how it was before, I'd be more concerned about the quality of yours and everyone else's posts here.

I have to disagree and say that the Merit system is VITAL for this site. Can you imagine the numbers of people joining if they could get to the proverbial top of the tree by posting spam and crap? Unimaginable it really is.

While i take pity on some people who are struggling to get some merit when you can see they are actually putting the effort in, the flip side is that if it were removed, this site would become shambolic and literally a free-for-all and virtually impossible to moderate.

All of the people who complain about the Merit system have one common denominator- their post history! Why should they be able to rank up when they aren't here to do anything other than sponge from it?

As for yourself my friend, if you're on 9 merit then you know its possible to get it, just post some good content and i'm sure you'll be rewarded soon enough!

In recognition of this grave injustice, and hoping to correct it, I decided to go through your post history and merit the first post I found that showed the slightest evidence of original or useful thought. Unfortunately, I gave up after 15 pages, which consist almost entirely of bounty spam, with the balance comprised of quotes of blog posts and articles. That's 300 posts of nothing but spam! How much more is there? Well, I don't have time to go through it all, so I guess it's up to someone else to give you your one lousy merit point.

Why it has to work the similar way. Getting merit is not impossible but harder for a reason. If these members can do it then why cann't you?  You are trying to find holes in merit system (I have been there) where you HAVE the holes in yourself. Better improve yourself then complaining about anything else.

Merit system is the best idea to prevent spammers from making free money(bounties). I would suggest that there should be a merit requirement or rank to enter the bounties section for further spam prevention.

Merit prevents shitposters from ranking up. It does not control the spam. Spam and shitposting is controlled by our mods who have to clean up the diarrhoea of the bounty spammers. What is ironic is that some people come to this forum to make some cash through these bounties and feed their lowlife families - but if you ban them form the forum for shitposting then they start complaining and call it "racism"

This is promote more merit trading because of the people who want to join the campaign but is being opposed from doing so because of merit requirement.

In my opinion it's better this way. It improves the quality of discussion on the forum and weeds away the spammers and shit posters.
Most of the concern around merit is I guess raised by bounty hunters who may be losing out on signature bounties.

I myself used to do the same. Made my share of mistakes and realized after a long time that the need and purpose of this forum is
bigger than each one of us. In the future, when crypto becomes main stream, this forum will be known as the place where it all started.

Modifying my comment. Yes. In fact, after the introduction of merit system, the number of alt accounts has increased exponentially, which in
turn has increased the spam. In almost every bounty you find people entering with 10s of accounts and its very sad when they brag about the
number of accounts they are maintaining.

IMO, its better for the forum to continue the merit system. More members are not just targeting the post count, interaction to members in the community is more important.

I took a look at OP's posts and I'm amazed he got 9 merits in the first place. His post history only consists of endless bounties quotes and it seems he's only interested in making money here.
I am glad the merit system works here but we still need an improvement to stop the bounties spam.

This is a very wrong decision if merit will be removed. I used merit to become my inspiration to become a good quality poster to contribute something good here in forum.  Their are lots of merit farming but it's more violent on MASS MERIT FARMING like sending 50 merits to a shitposts. This will never be remove because it's more than 120 days of the existence of merit that make a lot of people to be encouraged to make good quality posts in order to rank up amd to LEARN.

I don't think it will remove. In my opinion merit system working fine to prevent spam. You didn't got merit It's your weakness. It dose not mean merit system not good. There is no chance to earn merit without quality post. Yes we know some corrupted member's here to abuse merit. That is different case. Every there on the world is corruption. I have the basic answer to your question. NO, Merit System will not be remove no matter how many times you make complaints about it. If you don't like Merits System, then it is much better if YOU will be the one who will be remove. if you wanna stay, then please, for your own sake, stop making nonsense threads like these. It only seems controversial from the bottom. Yes the rules regarding ranking up changed, but that was just the system catching up with the times. Just accept the system and work within it.

Your question is valid, the system will only go away if it turns out to be a massive failure, which so far it does not. Some supporting evidence is this:

You had every chance here to get yourself that oh so important merit point, and failed. This tells me you are making it hard not the system, and those who don't even have one will get it when they deserve it.

Well until someone comes up with a better system this one is working quite well. I thin there is room for improvement or adjustments in regards to amount of Merit needed, but overall I thin kit's a success.

Just to drop a little honesty on you, it won't matter what the system introduced is, you won't be happy. If you can't write a quality post the system will keep your rank where it is until such a time that you deserve to rank up.

Although my stay in the forum is very short I have seen really primitive posts, asking the same thing over and over again, Users who do not even read pinned messages in the respective boards, Users who think this is Bountytalk.org not the Bitcointalk.org (They think the sole purpose of this forum is hosting bounty campaigns and I am pretty sure most of them haven't even heard of a board called "Meta" or "Ivory tower")!

If someone is ranking up by just posting weekly bounty reports or posting "Very good project!" "This go to moon sure" "Great team with potential" "Very promising project" is simply a disgrace to the forum! Merit system must be protected and rules and regulations of the forum must be tightened as much as possibel since "Learning" is far more important than "Earning!"

Members must earn their position and the reputations in the forum! It won't be and it must not be presented in a silver tray. This is not armed forces just to rank up by seniority!

PS: Currently I possess 3.5 sMerits and if and only if your post history enlightens me or I feel it has given something valuable to the forum I am more than happy to give you that one merit !

PS2: As far as I can see this post is just a trick to senior members with merits to go through your post history not to construct a valid discussion over the merit system.!

Most of the members worried about the Merit system and their rank are the perfect example of users who have no interest in cryptocurrency other than using the forum as a cash cow. Thought I'd just put your quote in bold for those who have trouble reading.

OP struggles with English, and in addition his post uses far more words than are necessary to get his point across.  That could be why he's not receiving as many merits as he thinks he should have gotten. 

There are other fixes that can be tried before the merit system is declared a failure, but that's obviously up to Theymos.  More merit sources in general, more in the local boards, etc., might alleviate some of the frustration of people who've been waiting to rank up.  I'm sure there are people who make good posts and don't get merits when they should, but I don't know if that's rare or not.  Sometimes I think the good posters get merits consistently, while the awful ones locked in their rate of merit-getting right at the start.  The latter seem incapable of improving.

Merit system must be protected? Yes of course but there's a possibility that it will be abused and it happen already like farming merits, trading merits and other ways that may called as merit abuse, it's the same as "In Light there is Dark, and in Dark there is Light".
