There are two possible scenarios:

1. MtGox survives and allows btc withdrawals: people will arbitrage their mtgox coins on other exchanges and the prices will aligne somewhere in the middle between all exchages: something like 300-400$

2. MtGox files bakrupcy: people will lose trust in bitcoin and will sell: price will drop something around 400$ (hard to say)

This is precisely how I see it.

This is utter bullshit.   Grow up (in your Bitcoin knowledge).  Bitcoin is not a stock.  It is a platform.  And while you and all your buddies are sweating all day hunched over your computers to try and make $15 on the highs and lows, the rest of us are investing in whats actually being created, and not stressing over some bad news.  Bad news is irrelevant.  Speculation has a negative connotation.  Call it what it really is:  Confidence in the technology.  Your confidence is in your charts that you used for Google stock.  This is why your'e all freaking out and terrified right now, while the rest of us are relaxed.  Fortunately as *ADOPTION* increases, and the volatility decrease as a result, you all wont have enough highs and dips to warrant sticking around, and you'll go back to your eTrade screens.

-B-

Dude, I think you need to take a break from bitcoin for awhile, maybe find a new hobby like sailing or fishing, chill out a little. I've been frequenting the forum for almost a year off and on and you seem to be getting really worked up over this bear market recently. I don't get all this misdirected angst toward the "weak hands", we're in a period of price discovery, this is absolutely normal for an emerging market, and if you have faith, it means a good buying opportunity for you. So don't sweat it so much.

Night gathers, and now my bitcoinwisdom watch begins.

My money is on $500 (on stamp).

Before we can head on up we're going to need to double-bottom somewhere, and then re-test the double-bottom with a slightly higher bottom. This could take days, weeks, months, maybe even a year or two. Thats the way these things work around here.

There is only 1 counter strategy against the dumping bot on Gox:

Simply replace all your bids to $1. Let's see, if the bot will sell the coins for that price.

bitcoin will be on a slow bleed down until some really big fundamental shift happens

such as

a big country bailing in all bank deposits

or

amazon.com accepting bitcoin

something along those lines. Right now its a non stop stream of bad news.

i dont care what price it goes down to, whether its 400 or 30. Will not buy until there is that game changing piece of news.

This big positive news for Bitcoin could happen sooner than expected
The dollar will plunge within 2years, Big western Banks will fail within 3years, corruption is high, taxes are increasing; it will seem extremely sweet to have a few bitcoins when the shi.t hit the fan

I'm pro bitcoin but if the dollar plunges in 2 years and banks fail in 3 years then it will be the end of America and not the beginning of bitcoin.
Bitcoin cannot build the infrastructure that fiat has in that short of a period and have everyone adopt it. We need years of investing in infrastructure before that can happen.

Look at technology like electric cars and mobile phones ... it took years before every city had cell towers and it will take some years before you can refuel your electric car everywhere....

Bitcoin is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get !!
