Dear Bitstamp users

Bitstamp’s exchange software is extremely cautious concerning Bitcoin transactions. Currently it has suspended processing Bitcoin withdrawals due to inconsistent results reported by our bitcoind wallet, caused by a denial-of-service attack using transaction malleability to temporarily disrupt balance checking. As such, Bitcoin withdrawal and deposit processing will be suspended temporarily until a software fix is issued.

Does this mean if I buy bitcoins from bitstamp through ripple I cannot have them until this gets sorted?

I'd keep them. They will probably cost more after it gets fixed.

i think they just suspended trades, so you can access your funds again later if bitstamp does not go under!

They say it will be fixed soon. The page linked to above says

No funds have been lost and no funds are at risk.

This is a denial-of-service attack made possible by some misunderstandings in Bitcoin wallet implementations. These misunderstandings have simple solutions that are being implemented as we speak, and we're confident everything will be back to normal shortly.

Withdrawals which failed on the 10th and 11th of February will be canceled and the amounts added back to the customer account balances.

Then why didn't you add the whole text in the main post.
The way it looks now , it's just another tentative to spread some Fud.

Probably the Gox guys , but because they can't lie themselves out anymore.

They are trying to pull one last stunt before going down , probably they feel the police is on their tails.

Sorry, I didn't think everyone would want to read the whole page because it's massive. I thought the the phrase "deposit processing will be suspended temporarily until a software fix is issued" from my first post would be enough to assure people this situation is only temporary,

IMO, if I were them I would welcome the police so the people who they screwed didnt get a hold of them.

Just look at the other cases in which bitcoin holders have been screwed and nothing happened.
Do you see people throwing rocks at the BFL guys?
It seems pirate@40 was identified , was there somebody assaulting him with a chainsaw?

Bitcoin withdrawals processing soon

Dear Bitstamp clients,

A denial-of-service attack caused us to suspend the processing of Bitcoin withdrawals. Bitstamp, with help from the Bitcoin core developers, has implemented a solution that passes our preliminary tests and audits.

After additional testing, we plan to enable Bitcoin withdraws later today.

Thank you for your understanding!

Best regards,

The Bitstamp team
