What is the best "non coinbase" method to purchase BTC in the USA via us dollar?

Scenario: imagine that americans want to buy bitcoin for fiat. They don't want to use coinbase. There are currently two pending lawsuits filed against coinbase one for insider trading the other for freezing the funds of their customers. Coinbase isn't looking the most reliable or trustworthy atm. Crypto markets can benefit by having other alternatives, thus avoiding coinbase having a monopoly or centralized paradigm which would have a negative effect on consumers. What exchange or service would they use?

Exchanges like bitmex appear to have banned all US residents and exchanges like binance which allow US residents to sign up and trade do not support purchasing bitcoin via us dollars.

Does anyone know of a good method or exchange which supports US residents and allows purchase of bitcoin via debit/credit card--without piling a ton of fees or surcharges on top of everything the way some services do?

Also does anyone get an impression crypto regulation is deliberately setting coinbase up as a centralized market / monopoly over bitcoin transactions for usd? Mainly by denying US residents access to platforms which allow purchase of btc via us dollars.

You can search for such info on the Internet. There are plenty of articles with "tops of exchanges" with different reviews. Maybe you'll find what you’re looking for.

1. There are many more exchanges than Coinbase and most of them should accept bank transfer. They don't have to be located in US, but they have to accept US citizen. The latest addition to the list may be Bittrex.
2. There are plenty of services where you can buy with debit card, especially if you are from US.
3. There are Bitcoin ATMs but there the fees are usually big.
4. There's always localbitcoins.
5. There are individuals even here on bitcointalk trying to buy or sell Bitcoin with various payment methods, from PayPal and card to western union and such.

Why you not have give try on the localbitcoins.com or the direct exchange and then take to local exchanger to make Cryptocurrencies to fiat currency conversion bud. Hope there is no issue to do this format of exchange to get the more amount.

LBC and Coinbase is the place I see the good value in the market. Some of the traders may offer more than the value we see in the preev or elsewhere.

Gotta keep reminding people, you don't always have to buy Bitcoins from a company. Bitcoin's built for peer-to-peer, so why not try get it off a person selling them? Price is better, the Bitcoin are yours quicker than with Coinbase. And you keep the economy going with other users.

I definitely agree with LBC, just love the escrow protection there, but there's also others coming up, less KYC required, same escrow mechanisms. Bisq is something I'm eyeing myself for a diversification of platforms.
