I am looking for a free VPS server to test small applications. I tried some I found on Google but they do not really work. Mostly registration or set up aborted for some reason. Does anyone knows a valid and working free VPS server provider?

That's not gonna work. Nobody will give you a free VPS. You can go for colocation at some datacenter that gives good rates, but that doesn't eliminate the costs of the server itself and the bandwidth you're using.

See, I would also love to get free VPS hosting, but the trouble with that is the fact that, with a VPS, the provider gives the customer root access to what is, essentially, a full installation of some OS. That means that you could use your VPS for anything, and when I say `anything`, I mean illegal activities.

I want a seedbox. If there were providers that offered free VPS, unscrupulous people like me would take advantage of it and use 80Mbps+ bandwidth 24/7, thereby killing the bandwidth of every other VPS on that port. Moreover, if I committed crimes on my VPS, the provider could have some liability. Therefore, no provider is going to take such an enormous risk for no money at all. There are, in fact, very cheap VPS providers where you can get, say 128MB of RAM, 5GB disk space and something like 50GB monthly data transfer for very, very small operations, but even the most low-end VPS provider won't be willing to take a risk on totally free service.

Google Cloud [$300 free credit to get started with any GCP product] and AWS Amazon provides free VPS for 1 year [Keeping in mind if you exceed the limitation then you will be charged for AWS]! Only you need to register using a CC and you can use their service for free!
