Hello BCT,
This question is selection of the best (debatably virtualized) cryptocurrency storing operating system for a modern computer. It will see a few trades with a frequency no greater than one day a week and long-term storage of those cryptos where a hardware wallet is not an option.
The machine will be crypto storage and transactions only. It is dedicated to those tasks and not a daily driver. Hardware wallets are utilized where available. It is unlikely to be powered if not utilized.
The goal is chiefly security. It is followed by usability / software compatibility. Examples of software support in question include Arizen Wallet, NEO Wallet, Electrum Wallet, Jaxx, Exodus, MetaMask, several DEXs (e. g. MEW, Switcheo, Bancor) with Ledger Nano S support, etcetera.
Will CentOS be a problem with any or many wallet applications? The question is about gaining a higher level of security than that offered by a consumer-oriented operating system such as Ubuntu. Can you recommend a better option for a security focused machine that is not air-gapped nor "live," with the knowledge it will only be powered a few hours a week? Thank you for any insights you may have.
Respectfully, XsiliconX
