Life used to be different for "Crypto Shaolin."

Long before he was known by his current nickname, he'd follow tourists in the heat of central Africa, swinging an ice box and offering them a chilly bottle of Coca Cola or Fanta with a sugary smile to match.

But as chipper as his demeanor made him out to be, Crypto Shaolin calls this past work "frustrating." Not only was it meager pay, he had ambitions to rival his role models Elon Musk and Steve Jobs.

One of these drinks may have put him on that path, though, when by chance he passed a Coke to a man wearing a strangely worded shirt.

Curiosity piqued, Crypto Shaolin asked what it was all about. After all, he'd never heard of "HODL" before.

"[Crypto]'s the future," the man answered cryptically, adding:

"Are you here tomorrow?"

The stranger would go on to give him what amounted to an annual salary in exchange for his interest.

"I managed to escape poverty," Crypto Shaolin says of what came next.

The money, of course, wasn't in the usual form. The man presented Crypto Shaolin with ether, the cryptocurrency that powers ethereum, asking for only one thing in return: that he research the technology.

Without a laptop, this wasn't an easy task, but Crypto Shaolin would later find a cafe with internet that allowed him to continue his journey down the cryptocurrency rabbit hole.

"I was so amazed by what I've just discovered I could not sleep the next days," he said.

Crypto bounty hunting may get you a few dollars, but if you are in poverty, it is going to be very difficult to get these dollars. You need to be computer literate, have an internet connection - that itself might put you in the middle class in most developing countries. The poor will be worried about where the next meal is coming from, not about bounties offered on the internet.

Another bad thing bounty campaigns are being offered is there is a chance that what they are promoting is a scam waiting to happen, not only for them but for the viewers who are seeing what they are being promoted. Bounty campaigns that will only pay at the end or with stakes that will also pay at the end of TGE shows that this developers don't have any budget to begin with. This bounty hunters are attracted to money but they don't see their time being wasted by the potential scam waiting to happen not to mention what damage it can bring to other people.

Smart phones. They're everywhere. I'd certainly hate to attempt any serious work on one but needs must.

Stories like this are what it all should be about. It's exciting that anyone anywhere can plug into this and do so much better for themselves than before. It's a shame that most of the stuff on offer is  probably scammy bollocks but real tasks offering real rewards will come in time. That's the type of adoption that changes the world, not whiny millennials.

It is definitely a golden opportunity for those who are facing the hardships of poverty and unemployment .
Almost people of all age groups can do this work and it is a very good way of making some side money . I also started it for the smae purpose and
I am still doing it for the same reason.

After reading through the article, I now see the bigger picture for the use of the Bitcoin and Blockchain platform. Blockchain puts the power back into the hands of those who are disadvantaged and who otherwise wouldn't have the opportunity to earn income. It creates a decentralization of opportunities. I sincerely believe that bounty campaigns are the foundation for what may become the first decentralized workplace.
The Job of the future, whereas any one with an internet connnection and the know how, can seek employment opportunities. As of right now, the space is highly unregulated, but this year, parliament around the world has been issuing statements regarding the use of cryptocurrencies. Exciting times we're in, no?

This type of Bounty hunting that surrounds ICO's has no future, it's completely based on the hype around ICO's and even now the golden days of bounty hunting are gone. I remember how in 2016 and 2017 you could make a some dozens or even hundreds of dollars by wearing a signature here for a few weeks and retweeting some tweets, and very often you got paid with BTC and ETH, but even if not you could easily sell your bounty coins for BTC, even with the most shitty coins, because some exchanges listed almost anything for a small fee. It's drastically different today, because all the ICO's now are just Ethereum tokens that very rarely hit exchanges, so bounty hunters end up with nothing but hope that one day they'll be able to sell their tokens. But in the future it will only get worse, no one will trust ICO's and people who fully relied on them will go back to poverty.

Depends. I can imagine some proper bright sparks arriving via that route and then building something world changing in a crappy internet cafe on a dusty street somewhere. It's not an automatic dead end.

And even if this bounty shit vanishes, and I hope it does, it opens their minds to the fact they can now do business online. It doesn't have to be crypto specific. All they need to figure out is that they can now get paid securely and near instantly from anyone in the world.

Not all of the bounty hunters wil be able to see this opportunity. Even if crypto will give them the means to have secure payments feom all around the world, I don’t think that everyone will be able to utilize this once bounty hunting disappears.  Many have resorted to bounty hunting because it’s very easy to do whil there’s no level of skill and intelligence needed.

Yes I agree that bounty hunting can be a bridge that will help an individual to pass poverty but it is not that easy. It's an easy task but the patience that you need should be so much because it takes many months before it the bounty ends, another months for the distribution and months again before listing. The project can also fail so your hardwork can also be in vain.

If not for the market for crypto bounty have been infested by those who are only interested in cheap labour, its really a good source of making decent income. People who participated in the early days of bounties and airdrop of projects like Byteball or Electroneum can attest to this that it really worth their time and even after they finish the distribution and engaged in simple campaigns to be paid with their coin, its was something tangible to behold and other decent projects that have happened in the past. But not again today that out of 10 projects with bounties launched, 6 won't even bother to distribute the whatever they promise and 3 won't make it to the point of maturity where people can get the opportunity of cashing out their compensation for their time.

Reading the article, I realized that breaking out of poverty is actually dependent on the country the person is coming from. For someone in Asia, Africa, or Middle East, a $1000 is a whole lot of money that can change a life but the same thing cannot be said for average people in the US, Europe and other advanced countries of the world.
