Inability to withdraw and lack of trust = plummeting value on gox.

Hopefully people can get their coins out at some point.

I want to trade some of my in-chain BTC for GOX BTC, but, I'm scared of:-
1. Them not being able to pay out
2. Their staff being socially engineered into giving the user their money back

Etc...

Please ask for a signed message from my on-site Bitcoin address (Check my profile) before doing any offsite trades with me.

What is the use of trading in gox. You can neither withdraw GoxBux or GoxBit.

Simple.  If this is all FUD and Goxdrawals are re-enabled, you can pick yourself up some very discounted coins.

Gox coins are really cheap because they...don't exist ? Somebody knows something otherwise the price wouldn't plummet so badly. Not even friends and big players can't withdraw from MtGox at the moment.

Did they not just reenable withdrawals of GoxBux?

Perhaps this is part of their play to make good on their insolvency. Force people to sell off Bitcoins on the cheap in order to try and get some Goxbux back into USD at a price that makes up for their shortfall, which they can then convert to USD at some 30% premium thus plugging their insolvency gap.

Kraken Account, Robbed/Emptied. Kraken say "Fuck you, its your loss": https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1559553.msg15656643#msg15656643

Bitfinex victims. DO NOT TOUCH THE BFX TOKEN! Start moving it around, or trading it, and you will be construed as having accepted it as an alternative means of payment to your USD, BTC, etc.

If they were worthless, why would they be trading at anything more than $0 USD?

There is apart of FUD no reason to believe that Gox is bust. BTC withdrawals are halted at all major exchanges. But why is the spread still widening ? Maybe someone knows more, maybe not.

Let´s put some points together.

Certainly MtGox holds a very unique old time customer base out of the old ages when there were no alternatives. (lots of coins ?!)
New customers are rather depositing to alternatives. (lots of fresh cash)
This means that fresh money is flowing into the new exchanges while old time coins are sitting on gox. (Spread widening)
No arbitrage between exchanges possible due to withdrawal problem

This would explain the difference, but there are risks to lock in a profit

I got the feeling that the drop on Gox could accelerate as it currently is a small little micro cosmos. The more the price drops the more other people panic and dump.
This kind of panic could jump to other exchanges and lead to a further crash.... without ever being able to lock in the profits from the so cheap Goxbux bought at 500 once the withdrawals are fixed...

What am I missing ? I just don´t get it... why are people dumping GoxBTC in favour of GuxUSD ? Am I stupid or is it them ?

good ol' days of $30 bitcoin

If you really want the good ol' days, why not go for $0.01 bitcoin.

Think of the pizza you could buy with all those cheap coins.  Smiley

In to the $400s we go, this is going to be interesting to say the least!
Anyone taking the stance to buy cheap from Gox has bigger balls than me. From my perspective it clearly shows they are in a real bind.

I'll be buying a few Goxcoins when it hits $450 at additional 50-60% discount. Nothing wagered nothing gained. Cheesy
