1. Pay Per Click Ads. Google Adsense can be pretty picky about the sites they approve for ads, you might have trouble getting approved if you have a very new site or a site will very little traffic. Media.net is a good alternative if you get rejected by Google as they are much more likely to approve a fairly new site with minimal traffic.
2. Affiliate Marketing is another way to monetize a website. Join affiliate networks like ShareASale, Flex Offers, Rakuten, etc. and they will have thousands of products you can promote and earn commissions on.
3. Skimlinks will actually setup affiliate links for you so its less of a manual process but you have to share the commissions with them.
4. The Amazon Associates program allows you to turn any product on amazon.com into an affiliate link and earn commissions.
5. Sell direct ad space on a site like BuySellAds. You need a good amount of web traffic for this though. No one is going to pay for ad space if you can't demonstrate consistent website traffic.
6. Make sure to start an email subscriber list. Getting people to your website will be difficult enough, you want to make sure you turn visitors into long term customers.
Of course all of this relies on being able to drive traffic to your website either through SEO, PPC, etc. I've got a pretty detailed article on methods to monetize a website/blog on my site. I'm not gonna post a link here because I'm not sure if that will violate the terms of the message board but you can check out my website in my profile if you'd like some much more detailed info or feel free to PM me if you have specific questions.
