temporarily invest in 2nd gen currency?

I don't want to sell my BTC for fiat cause i'm pretty sure, in some weeks we're back at 1k$.
But a little bit of uncertainty is in my mind, so what do you guys think about changing some BTC into NXT as long as the price is so low? Today the first client-software was published and others will follow in short time. I watch this nxt-network since november, the community and dev-team is gorgeous and the price is stable since weeks.

On a serious note i think you should look into diversifying your investment (bitcoin) in some other good prospect.

I believe XNF (NoFaitCoin) is a serious contender and is going to be super successful in coming days.

The dev-team is gorgeous?  You can always invest in some alts, but they're just as risky as BTC really. I'd just stick largely with Bitcoin though.

Every time a new "altcoin" pops up and people invest in it, isnt it just one less dollar in BTC?  Isn't it hurting BTC?  Thats how I see it.  These alt coins are just slowly deflating the BTC market cap.

I don't think so. Maybe that money will find its way into Bitcoin sooner or later as many people trade the coins for BTC. I don't think the deflating price has anything to do with alt coins unless one comes along that is far superior.

depending on why you want to invest here are 2 options:
1) i would invest in super low priced altcoins. EG grump coin which is at like 2 satoshi's.

if you think about it, there is only 1 chance for the coin to drop. but millions of chances for it to go up.

most of these secret coins are on small exchanges such as www.cryptorush.in.


2)if your not into coins for a good pump and dump/fast but mayb risky profit, but more for a long term investment. then look for coins that have actual use and functionality.

bitcoin - atleast 30k merchants
litecoins - many merchants
feather coin - a few merchants.

because if no one is 'using' it then long term the price wont hold, as people usually move onto more exciting coins after a few months

 I've gotten in and out of DOGE coin a few times mostly due to hype and watching it get P n D. Seems to have a loyal following  and the idea of using to tip people who post is appealing.

I started with a call from my friend "Hey dude, check out this Dogecoin. It's cryptocurrency and it's hilarious. Start mining it with me." My response: "What the hell is mining and what is cryptocurrency?"

Long story short, I had some fun with Doge and now I'm completely into Bitcoin. Alt currencies are gateway coins to the heavy stuff; Bitcoins.
