is this the reason why you managed your presence even if your thread is not so active? did you receive seed funding from them?

I am sure that there is no strong partnership. Just for the simple reason that regulators from the chinese banking system would simply not approve this step. This is not logical and it violates local laws.

If Union Pay is claimed to be a partner, just have them make a public announcement and that's it.

Besides the fact that HPB's CEO was a co-founder of UnionPay Smart which could hint some strong ties, the dapp is currently under development (testing phase) and hopefully we'll see soon this dapp going live. I think execution is better than communication...

I don't think UnionPay Intl will ever disclose anything on a ongoing development.

UPS dapp is about data traceability & personal information management.

And let's not forget there are more dapps currently under development.

They don't have to announce anything about ongoing development. The problem is just that way too often some projects claimed nonexistent partnerships. It is not necessarily a problem with you, but with claiming partnerships in general. I am sure you know what I am talking about.

HPB Coin
HPB coin is the fuel of the whole HPB ecosystem. Some of the use cases are:
- It is used as gas for transactions
- Developers need it to issue smart contracts
- New projects can hold HPB and launch ICOs to raise funds
- Coin holders can vote for nodes and influence the way the network is governed
- Nodes also need to hold HPB coins and the more they hold, the higher their chance of becoming an HP-Node and earning higher block rewards.
- Initial coin (total) supply is 100,000,000 HPB.

The inflation rate is 0 the first year and then capped at 3% then 6% max of the initial total supply:

HPB adopts an inflationary system. Current inflation is capped at 3% of the initial token supply and once another 150 nodes are added, it will increase to 6% of the initial token supply. Fixing the maximum inflation rate to initial token supply means that the real inflation will actually decrease each year.
To drive adoption and economic incentives, HPB team decided that for the first year of inflation an equal amount of HPB will be burned from reserve fund. Which means the first year of HPB there will be 0% inflation.

We are pleased to announce that the HPB team will start the HPB MainNet upgrade today to optimize the MainNet performance and implement some key technical breakthroughs.

In order to better support the hardware wallet, optimize the chainid and make sure the process is performed smoothly, the upgrade will be divided into two phases: the first phase will be completed at the block height of 2560000 (expected to be May 17, 2019 China Standard Time); the second phase is expected to be completed on June 10, 2019 China Standard Time. The exchanges will also complete their upgrade of our MainNet by that time. During the upgrade, transfer and withdrawal of HPB will be suspended due to technical adjustments of the exchanges (for more details, please refer to the announcement of the exchanges).

The exciting new features are as follows:

1) MainNet
 
The new version of the MainNet has been released, and each node has been updating gradually. The HPB Tech Team will follow up the update of all the nodes, and provide technical support at any time.
The performance optimization of the MainNet has entered the second phase. The Tech Team is working on improvements that will standardize the testing environment catering to developer demand. The enhanced BOE functions are gradually developing. Users in community and developers will see the new functions soon.
 
2) Middleware
 
The UnionPay Smart authorized traceability system V2.0 has entered the multi-party integration test phase. All the problems found in the test have been solved.
 
3) Application
 
The smart contract optimization scheme for node voting has been evaluated and is now moving on to the developing phase.
The partner of HPB, KOFO (Cross-Chain Payment Project) has integrated the HPB, and HPB coins will be available on their platform using their full offering of trading pairs.
The Blockchain Middleware Project has been in a cooperative relationship with several organizations, and the on-chain function has been verified and tested.
 
2. Product Progress
 
1) HPB Scan
The UI and technical framework design of HPB Scan V2.1 has been completed, and the evaluation will be carried out next.
 
2) HPB Chrome Ext. H5 Wallet
The product team has added new requirements raised by the community to the later development plan for future updates.
 
3) HPB Wallet
HPB Wallet V 1.3.0 has been tested and compiled, and will be released soon.
The optimization of this version includes: a new cross-app crypto payment function, authorizing direct login of third party DAPPs, sending transaction signatures, and expanding our DAPP ecology.
 
HPB Wallet V 1.4.0 is in the product design phase.
The optimization of this version includes: displaying smart contracts, real-time fiat conversion rate, banners and advertisements, mnemonic retrieval support, and optimizing the user experience and UI design of the voting interface.

High Perfomance Blockchain was invited to attend three summits at home and abroad to accelerate the global ecology.

On June 15th, HPB core chain will attend Bibox's Global Meetup in Hanoi, Vietnam. HPB's CMO Emma Zhu and Asian market commercial director Daniel Kwak will be invited to attend this meetup and deliver a keynote speech to analyze the challenges faced by the blockchain industry and share the technical solutions of the HPB core chain.

“If Hardware is so important, why don’t other projects do it?”, “If HPB is open source, what prevents people from stealing the BOE and using it for their projects?”
While these questions might seem pertinent to most, this article will show you why these questions aren’t very intelligent, and are based on misconceptions.
In order to do this, I will explain:
How a hardware is made, describing the whole process. This will show you how hard and lengthy this process is, making other blockchain projects go for easier and less costly solutions, such as “software development”. This point will also show you how the HPB ICO is justified, compared to other projects by giving you an estimation of the cost of production.
Demonstrate, following the first point, that even if, a project were to steal the BOE, it will need 1–2 years to release it, and in a space moving this fast, 1–2 years is a very long time.

Just writing all of this tires me, you can imagine now how tedious it is to create this BOE.

Time = money in a company:
A project like this needs 2–3 years of production. Pay the salary of these:
Hardware engineer (1–2)
System Engineer (1–2)
Layout Engineer (one)
Embedded Engineer/devs (several)
Mechanical Engineer (several)
Components Engineer
Buyer
Managers for each team
Tool licences :
Hardware: Schematics maker, a management tool( for components and documents)
Mechanical: CAD / solidworks + management tool
System : management tool + system tools
SW Development tools
Layout tool like Enovia/Cadence
Manufacturing cost:
Factor every component and multiply by the number of the board (mechanical pieces included)
Time needed for the manufacturer ( tooling, personnel , and gain)
This could easily cost millions of dollars. Lettuce be cereal here, that’s not a small sum.
Let’s not count the prototyping. There could be several prototypes before the manufacturing comes in…

III/- Conclusion
Answering the questions that I asked in the intro:
1- Why don’t other projects use hardware if it is that good? Do other projects have the capacity and will to go through such a tedious process, in a space that is incredibly risky? If most of the space is a scam, why would they waste their time with this enormous effort? Ask yourself this question. Does Vitalik Butternut have the capacity to manage such a project? No, because he is a software guy and has 0 experience in electronics. Does the HPB team now look a little bit more serious to you now that you understand what goes on behind this BOE? Ask yourself this question.
2- What prevents other projects from stealing the BOE design? Well like I have just showed you, the process of building it requires a massive amount of time (around 1–2 years). So far, HPB is the only project with a working hardware, and no other project started working on it. This means that HPB has first mover advantage and is safe for 2–3 years. That’s a long time in crypto. Isn’t it worth investing in the first mover? Ask yourself this question.
3- In conclusion to cost point, I believe the HPB ICO is the ONLY one in the space, that is JUSTIFIED. Why does a project like EOS need billions of dollars? What justifies the cost? What about Cardano? Ask yourself this question.

The testing of the MainNet optimization is ongoing, and is scheduled to be completed soon.
 
The security audit of true random number function based on the BOE hardware has been completed, and its code development is under testing, after which the true random number function will go live on the test chain;
 
The technical solution of the private smart contract function based on the BOE hardware is currently under investigation, and is in progress.
 
2）Middleware
Conforming to the requirement of security audit proposed by UnionPay Smart, the HPB team has completed the security function design of the UnionPay Smart authorized traceability system V2.0. The function optimization and testing are expected to be completed sometime this month.
 
3）Application
The unit testing of the HPB Wallet V1.4.0 is complete, which focuses on the new function of Red Packets, and will move to functional testing.
 
The Tech Team is now working on the interface development of HPB Scan V2.1, which is approximately 70% complete. The front-end development will start within the month.
