Absolutely right. ICO projects should be considered as Start UP projects and invest in such projects not for a week or a month, but for a much longer period. Invest in technology, not just to earn a couple hundred dollars.

No, ICO is by no means equivalent to Start Up. For example, Spotcoin is launching and ICO but they have an already working business, UChain is the same case, a while ago Sether launched an ICO but had already a project and a team running.
ICO serves these purposes: a) Obtain financing b) Distribute a coin or a token c) Raise awareness / create a community

I consider ICO as a crodwfunding project using open innovations, and in some points we can say it is a start up project in many cases done by strong professional team and having enough money to run it, however a very risky one.

ICO are actually similar to IPO in stocks. It's generally the new companies or startups that comes with an IPO/ICO to have a funding to complete their development. And sometimes even the established companies go through ICO/IPO to expand their service regions or sectors.

So it's the same thing. Only now the collection system has changed. Previously, developers with great difficulty found investors and encouraged them to invest in the project. Now the developers themselves choose those from whom they take the money, and some are forced to undergo different tests that take their money to someone's project

Of course it is a startup of a Project coming from its name ICO ( Initial Coin offering ) . But if you are interested to participate to ICO i recommend you Able the Project will provide an alternative to banks lending deposit spread structure and solve problems with cryptocurrency banking services they tend to solve this problems by applying decentralized blockchain technology that makes the system more secured than the traditional centralized banking system

we should not assume all ICO projects as startups because new projects, and projects that already operate can run ICO if they need funds from investors but I agree that ICO projects should adopt Blockchain technology because what they offer to ICO investors is Cryptocurrency

I do not agree that ICO and startups are the same. Here are some differences: - the time horizon of the return of investments from traditional venture funds, it's usually 7-10 years in the blockchain startup when ICO this interval is in the range of 1-5 years; - the model of ownership – traditional venture investors are usually part of the company in the form of preferred shares, in the case of the blockchain, investors acquire functional tokens that are most often used in the service and their price is increasing with increasing popularity of the service. Tokens can easily be bought or sold on specialized exchanges. - investment rounds - seed stage investment rounds A-F represent the traditional stages of funding startups. In the field of blockchain they look different: pre-main, the final design model of the project, ICO, listing on the stock exchanges, implementation of the model. - the business model – traditional startups, tend to focus on the development of viable and relevant products or services for a traditional economy. blockchain projects redraws the traditional areas of business on a decentralized format, without borders and restrictions on the status and age of investors, geographic location of the players, they create their own ecosystems, which are closely integrated to the crypto currency industry. -legal form all the traditional start-UPS usually are one of several legally accepted forms of ownership in some jurisdictions. Blockchain startups almost always do not have the same organizational structure. They operate solely on trust resources of its users, creating protocols on top of existing blockchain systems. - investors in the traditional economy startups can only invest in venture capital funds, major venture capitalists, family funds and large institutional players with the appropriate status. Crowdfunding is more sparing in this matter, however, there are restrictions on the transfer of funds between countries. In the case of ICO in the project can invest absolutely anyone without any restrictions. - market approach – in the traditional sector the most popular innovative designs. And in the blockchain industry, those who most effectively uses the distributed registry for a revolution in traditional sphere.

I agree with you if ICO is like start-up, other than that ICO in my opinion is like a fundraiser that returns our money with tokens / coins. I think it's a very good fundraising system and it can make money lenders a fortune.

I agree with topic starter ICO is more like startup, not IPO. IPO is usually a already working company that want some more money to increase existing business model.

ICO and start up are very similar to each other. Both aim to collect money from investors to achieve the goals set in the project. They differ in the environment in which their activities take place.

I was thinking like that initially from the beginning that ICO is just a way to earn and make your dreams come true like the Kickstarter, the same technology

Actually, ICOs and start-ups are very similar, they differ only in how they raise fund (token and stock). But it's not IPO. I think it's easier to raise fund by ICO than by start-ups.

ICO and start up are very similar to each other. Both aim to collect money from investors to achieve the goals set in the project. They differ in the environment in which their activities take place. Basically, the ICO and startup share the same meaning of calling for investment in new projects and bringing these projects closer to reality. Calling for investment in the form of ICO is receiving great support from the world investment community and there have been many successful ICO projects in recent times.

Not All ICOs is start ups. ICO it is not the type of organisation of business. ICO it is the type of funding (Initial Coin Offering). Any company can try attract investments in this way. Not start ups only.

Most ICOs are held by startups that are looking for funding to Kickstart their ideas. Basically, ICOs are for getting funding for a project so even established companies can consider hosting an ico to get more fund. But majority of the ICOs are held by startups. Just only few of them are made by companies. So yes, ICO might pass for a startup.

It really depends, but mostly ICO are a way to raise capital for new projects so as it is a new project,it's a start up, but i have seen some few case where already existing projects are raising money to scale their project. So i won't call that one start up
