The reason for the 1.6B coins mined is based on the pre-mine that was provided on the creation of the coin, which is to the tune of 1.5B. Typically this is something that is deemed as a no go but is something we felt necessary at the time. Due to this we have set a limitation on when this is accessible, as mentioned in the original post.
Genesis info:
The Genesis block is locked for a period of 3 years or when the height reaches 1,576,800.
We have a few plans for this set of coins of which the majority of which is going to be going back to the people, not the staff of Numerare. This is something that we are going to be setting up later on down the line as we believe there is going to be a fair bit of time pass prior to it being released.
