Hello KittehCoin Mining Pool Owners,
Thanks for supporting KittehCoin by operating a pool. We have released a NEW client for kittehcoin, we are distributing this to pool operators first. This client adds in the KGW difficulty algorithm as well as adjusting the hardfork block height.
It is CRITICAL that we get all pools to upgrade to this latest client ASAP. Please reach out to any pool-operator friends you may have.The update process is just as simple as last time. All of the code for the wallet is posted to github ( https://github.com/kittehcoin/kittehcoin) and there is a makefile.unix for unix systems. Please back up your wallets before the upgrade, and for safety make a COPY (do not move, copy) your .kittehcoin data directory as a backup as well. After this has been completed please build and run the compiled client and it will pick up right where the old client left off, all addresses, balances, etc will be maintained. You can verify that the client has been upgraded by running this command: kittehcoind getinfo You should see "version" : 80602, in the output, this mean you have successfully upgraded. If you have any questions please let me know, I am here to help. This change must be completed by SATURDAY 2/15 of this week or the blocks from your pools will be orphaned and rejected from the network.Thanks very much for your support and cooperation in this upgrade! Yes the new client uses a new DB structure (levelDB) you will not be able to go backwards thats why we urge operators to backup their entire DB dir before upgrading. It should reindex up to the current block and then be all good to go forward, its basically doing an internal DB migration. Thank you for upgrading so promptly! |

Seriously, you need to give more than 24 hours notice for a fork.
We do our best to make sure pool owners are the first to know. We have gave pool owners 5+ days notice on this, they should be well aware. We have been communicating (on all our channels- reddit, forums, twitter, FB) about this update since MONDAY. I even bought Ad space. Admittedly the wallet for pool owners was only ready 48hrs ahead of the forkpoint because blocks were found faster than expected (we cannot control this) but still- pool owners need to be on top of this stuff. I feel 5 days lead time was adequate, it takes all of 3minutes to upgrade. Updated smoothly! Thanks for the heads up!
