Not sure if I am the first to notice this or someone has already commented on it, BUT..... there seems to be the beginnings of a slight divergence in the price of Bitcoins on MtGox vs. Bitstamp. If I am reading the price correctly, it is lower on MtGox and higher on BitStamp. Thoughts?

It's simple, Bitstamp works and actually processes peoples orders ( I see quite a number of posts of people praising them ) whereas MTGOX doesn't and constantly causes problems so everybody is just giving up, MTGOX are just trying to blame Bitcoin for the amount of problems they're causing we'll have to see whether the other exchanges out there follow Bitstamp though.

One thing I've learned about businesses it's not when people complain that you should be worried, it's when they can't be bothered and just abandon you, looks like this rule can be applied for anyone that's making money.

If by "slight divergence" you mean 40% difference, then yes.

As it's Olympics time, give that man a podium and a medal for the understatement of the year.

How long is it taking to get USD into Mt Gox? Could be the trade of the year if they ever allow bitcoin withdrawal again.

Try sending to Karpeles' personal address, that's how Chinese solved it with huobi. Just a thought though, you may wait out till gox dies and than attempt to withdraw through his personal wallet (maybe even attempt multiple withdrawals).

Quick estimation per 1000 $ USD:

Buy in at price ~50$ (in a few days) -> 20 BTC
At least three fake withdrawals succeed (4 altogether) -> 80 BTC

Sell at rebound on stamp (850 $) -> 68000 $

First MasterCoin protocol transaction -> https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=265488.msg2940318#msg2940318; please refer to thread disclosed for more information

If Gox ever starts processing withdrawals again then arbitrage the hell out of it while you can.

Insiders will make a $%^& killing,

supply and demand - buy cheap at MT Gox, and see how long it takes you to get your Bitcoins...

Simple.

People are afraid they won't ever get their bitcoins from MtGox...

So they're selling them for cash...

Which they can't withdrawal either...

Genius!

If the owners of mtgox are smart, they should do lots of arbitrage to other exchanges, then they earn some money and use this to slowly withdraw to their customers.. Price will rise and people will have less FUD.

The price at Mt.Gox just reflects the fact that (almost) no market is really being made there now, no liquidity, no buyers, no sellers. So arbitrage is not a possibility either.

... In essence stealing from their clients while they hold their wealth hostage.  Profitable... but so is robbing banks.  Anything but ethical.

Seems like they'd make a hell of a lot more just running a legit business that doesn't lose all their customers to competitors.
